2023 Official MLB Season Thread

Another thing.....

Baseball just cant seem to get out of its own way. Last night was supposed to be a celebration of our sport. The Giants and Dodgers are one of the oldest rivalries in professional sports. The oldest in baseball. It was the first time these two teams met in the playoffs. It was a win and move on and lose and go home game. The only show in town last night. Amazing game. Every pitch was tense. Its what baseball is all about and why we all love the sport.

It was a game that should have been celebrated and talked about for a long time. We wake up less that 12 hours later and whats the only thing being talked about? Not Logan Webb throwing a gem. Not Dave Roberts managing the game brilliantly. Not a former MVP who looked all year like one of the worst players in baseball having a redemption moment and eliminating his rival.

No. We have to talk about none of that. All thats over any sports station or any media outlet is the blown call to end the game. That umpire should be ashamed of himself. Absolutely zero sense of the magnitude of the moment. He took what should have been an all time memorable moment/series and stole the spotlight by making the story about him. Its such a shame. Baseball should be talked about today with nothing but glowing reviews and positive comments. Instead, its nothing but negativity with the umps being the headline again.

Maddening.

This is 💯

MLB is supposedly concerned about pace of play, but accuracy and quality of the game should be priority. Make check swings, at least for Ks, reviewable. It’s inexcusable and unfair to players out there grinding, same thing with consistently bad strike zones. Players in this day and age are so good at determining the zone and if you give them something consistent then you’d get more action and the talk the following day will be more about the players and less about how Angel Hernandez or some other ump is botching calls.

Game 1 was called terribly in favor of the Giants. I’m not too bothered by last night. The Dodgers are a better team and the better team usually wins the series. Let’s see if the the Braves can put up any type of fight.

Check swing reviews should only be for the K like you said. If they review every check swing, games would be forever.

But I also believe they have to come up with a concrete definition of a check swing...

McCullers is out the whole ALCS. God damnit, Boston is going to win.

their entire staff shut us down all year so that aint gonna be the reason if we win

i don't think we have the pitching to win this one tbh. maybe if Sale was Sale but he's not fully right yet. and then some of the late inning options

I’ve always wondered, who did the chop first: FSU, the Braves, or the KC Chiefs?
FSU. Braves didn’t start doing it till early 90s. Which is why it’s annoying why some fans use “history” to defend it. Majority of the teams history there was no chop. It’s not about history it’s just cause it’s attached to their memories of the ball clubs best period.

You have a little thing called “luck” on your side right now. From the Stantionian Blast to the ground ruled double……now McCullers.

Those things make the clubhouse feel invincible.

Sale on his BS early i see

thank god i got a pizza dough proofing and six Sam Jack-O ales on deck

Sale is washed. Hope it's just taking longer to recover from TJ and he can eventually return to form.
