I’ll tell you this — if you put a rock with QB talent on one side and a genius with no talent on the other, I’m taking the rock 10 outta 10 times. I’d rather dumb down my playbook than bet on a so-called genius who’s a subpar athlete.
Dan Marino had one of the lowest Wonderlic at 15 while Blaine Gabbert was in the high 40s .... hmmmm ...
I think you're mixing some things here man.
I'm not saying decipher 90 variables etc. You have to receive the play call(s) in a microphone in your helmet with 70,000 people screaming and a clock ticking.....you have to repeat EVERY SYLLABLE so your ten teammates know the play and get to the LOS so THEN you can read the defense and POSSIBLY change to the second play.
In 40 seconds.
I promise you, it requires an insane amount of work, attention to detail, practice, homework, and leadership.
And your ten teammates will know IMMEDIATELY if you ain't doin it. Because THEIR JOBS rely on that information, every 40 seconds.
