It already kind of did though. All the agents and bad guys work clean cut white men while the people of Zion and resistance was a diverse group.

You're right though that a lot more people would have picked up on it if the main character was.

That movie woulda been a success if it was a regular Will and Son movie with them as regular humans hiking thru the wilderness.
