Batman: Arkham Origins thread, Cold cold heart DLC April 2014

Previously all that was said about the game's plot was this - "Eight of the best assassins in the world have come to Gotham City for one night, Christmas Eve of all nights, to kill the Bat." We now know that these eight assassins are lured to Gotham by the villain Black Mask (who briefly appeared in the Robin DLC for "Arkham City"), who is offering a substantial reward for Batman's head. The assassins will also be joined by crooked cops in the GCPD looking to cash in on the reward.

The game will take place in an open world environment like "Arkham City" that spans into two areas, "Old Gotham" and "New Gotham." New Gotham will feature classier areas with tall skyscrapers while Old Gotham will be the map from "Arkham City" prior to becoming an open prison. With the addition of "New Gotham," the game's map size has been doubled. There will also be 'Crimes in progress' side missions that players can choose to stop or ignore (as seen in previous superhero games). In addition, there is a 'Most Wanted' setting that will allow players to go after DC villains that aren't integral to the main storyline.

We've also learned some details about the handheld follow-up, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. The game will take place after the events of "Arkham Origins" and will see Batman going to Blackgate Prison in the wake of a riot that has broken out. It will be a side-scrolling game that features some of the same weapons and gadgets but won't rely on an "experience point" system.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be available for the Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will be available for the 3DS and PS Vita. Both games will launch on October 25, 2013.

Everyones said it already, but I'm skeptical of how this game will be with no Rocksteady involvement.

I'm worried about Rocksteady being gone but I guess Prototype gameplay looks somewhat similar to Arkham City. Never played the game but the somewhat dark and noir feeling and look is there too. As long as story is as good or better and longer, i'd be happy.

Really excited about the expanded city and the Most Wanted setting, they could easily add new villains to hunt down via DLC so we can see a bunch of villains we wanted to see in the first 2 games. I really hope the battle is the same as the boss fights though and not just a simple "huntdown, knockdown, tie them up and collect the bounty" type, needs to be more epic if we're fighting Killer Croc or Red Hood.

I believe I read that they'll be using Rocksteady's engine which should help to make it feel similar, but they have a lot of things here they could screw up.

cant wait!!  loved the first two

I can't wait to see clearer pics of the suit, I'm always a sucker for redesigned bat-suits and since I loved the AA/AC suits, I'm curious to see how they strip it down for this game, along with, what I'm assuming, has to be older tech/gadgets.

And also didn't the writer for the animated Batman series also write for AA and AC but left? Or was it the guy who voiced Batman. Can't remember.

Loved Batman AA, bought Batman AC on RD and still haven't opened it...

Haven't really played video games in the last year, no rhyme or reason.

damn it rocksteady, why? trying to be optimistic but cant knowing they arent developing this time around.

Hope they can build on what rocksteady did....

Often times when a new developer takes over it live up to the originals...

Wonder what happened between rocksteady and Warner Bros?
