Being educated...for what?

Nah, that's just the temperament that many people align with thinking -- stress, for those on the periphery of society, etc.

I figure that's why it seems the less you work, the more you get paid. The CEOs, the steer committees of trusts and hedge funds, the people who get hired by think tanks, etc... They get paid to think.

i was being sarcastic

A. Why should one have to hide  their intelligence? I think that is cowardly to hold your tounge for fear of being an outcast, I've never advocated such action, I moreso asked whats the point of even learning all this stuff if it doesn't help your life and no one else cares? It has to be a personal feeling and is that personal feeling worth the anxiety felt when the world tells you to "dumb it down?"

B. Idk where you get this socially awkward nonsense.  I never said that and I am certainly not socially awkward. I choose not to hangout with a lot of people because i don't like what they like, it' often leads to me feeling alone in this world, not because I can't have "friends" but because I don't want them. That's the issue, I spend my time thinking on another level than those around me...like this thread for example, no matter how much "sense"  you make, it doesn't make sense to others, so whats the point learning it? personal feelings.

Two types of smart, "book smart" and "street smart." For some, for the physics and such, "book smart" is the way to go, but for the rest of us being "street smart" i.e knowing how to interact with people is a much more useful skill. I don't see the point in learning the meanings of the universe outside of personal satisfaction.

If you interact with old money, being knowledgeable on politics, history, philosophy, science and the arts goes a long way. Might get you a job as their driver

There's functional knowledge like knowing how to complete a process at your job and remembering facts that will help you get by in social settings. Then there's more existential knowledge. Any worthwhile university should have equipped you with both.

honestly i don't feel like reading anything else you have to say.

i'm just gonna answer the first part since that's what i read.

it's not REALLY about hiding your intelligence.

i mean, like i already said, if you chillin you don't have to go around correcting everyone and being a douche.

calm down big man, nothing cowardly about that. it's called tact.

Maybe if you don't have a douchey personality you wouldn't have to employ techniques around your friends to appear "not smart," you would be able to display you intelligence without sounding like a condescending prick.

I mean I get a basic education, and a mechanical education (anything that grants you a tangible skill, from woodworking to nuerosurgery). But the more I read, the more I learn, the more I form my own ideas, I'm starting to think actually learning stuff, understanding how the world works makes you an outcast. You sound like a dbag always "correcting" people.
