I didn't search anything, u just clicked bicycles on the top of the craigslist page from one of your links. White one looks decent, bit pricey though. If you can talk him down then i'd possibly get it. That s-works specialized i linked is leagues better and for not much more.

Really? what is the s-work worth? That paticular one and how much should i offer lower? And for the white one whats the best price to get it at? Any cons with either one?

Not too sure what its worth but the S-works line is Specialized top of the line road frames. Go to their website and the newer 2011 S-works models go for $7k plus. The components on the one for sale on craigslist has got Dura-Ace components along with some Ultegra mixed in as well. Both are at the top of Shimanos hierarchy as far as groupsets go. I highly doubt you would be able to offer him lower then what he's asking because i think many people would offer him the full $600 he's asking. Can always try though. Yellow Bianchi is nice too but way expensive. Bianchi is a boutique brand though and many people like to collect them. Not sure what its worth but i wouldn't buy it.

got it for 100 already broke the pedals lol they were pretty cheap... I need a more comfortable seat and some thinner rims and tires what would you guys recommend? I am riding it on paved roads and very minor stone roads i noticed i was going a lot slower than my friends and I think it was from the aggressive tread..

just get a new bike.  huffy's arent worth upgrading. (i'm not even sure if cheap bikes like those are upgradable)

Question regarding road bike/fixie frame

I have a frame with track drop outs, not sure if it makes a difference, but it is a bit too big for me, but I really like it. What things can I do to make it a bit smaller? I was thinking about putting 650c wheels on them, but then I was told the problem with that is that the brakes won't fit. I ride single speed btw, need my breaks. Any other ideas on how to make the bike smaller or better shaped for me? I even thought of shorter crank arms, but still, top tube would still high. Open to opinions.

I'm basically in the same situation OP was in... I haven't road a bike in YEARS, don't know much about the difference besides what I've been researching lately, looking to buy a bike mainly to commute to work (3mi one way, generally flat, residential streets with no bike lane) & fitness, take on paved bike trails. Coincidentally I also live in the DC area so I've been checking Craigslist too and I went to a bike shop to ask questions but it was closing time so I could test drive any bike or get sized. 

On Craigslist currently I've seen a Specialized Sirrus Hybrid Bike --Size 47cm ($420 obo).

Initially I thought I spend $300 on a bike to commute to work but my budget is flexible if I can get it right the first time I'm willing to spend more, $600-$800. 

Finally, helmet I won't lie I've thought I ride without but I know I need to wear one, so any recommendations?

I'm still considering if i should buy a helmet, if i do it won't be those fancy ones the racers wear. Maybe just a regular Bell one. Or ill just stick to my fitted and hope lucks on my side.

I ended up buying a Trek Soho S, matte black, single speed but serves the purpose for commuting to work and fitness. I've been riding into work and even cut my commute time down.

As for the helmet, as corny as they look I don't want to risk it so I been using a Bern Brentwood helmet. It's comfy, looks decent, will protect my brain, and I don't feel silly riding around with it. Got it in matte black and it's like a multipurpose helmet, looks like those the X Game athletes wear.

 Will get myself a trek or specialized in the future. I ended up getting a helmet to. It' a Bell fraction or w.e its called, the ones skaters wear i guess because there more circular. Still wear a fitted when i bike to work to damn corny wearing it unless i bike on the bike path for fitness purposes.
