I would post pics of some ashy 2000s but it's not necessary. My point is that this shoe is and has always been ashy by nature. I don't care what they use wether it be Durabuck, nubuck or suede for that matter. Thats just the characteristic of all those materials. I've said many times over the years how my 2000s used to get ashy as hell and it was perminent ash, not that ash you could brush away. So complaining about the ash is kinda insane to me as black 6s have always been "ashy" minus the black leather heel on the OGs. Aside from the ankle bubble and the highly visible material/leather "cuts" and leather heel, these 2014s don't stray too far away from the OGs and what the overall product is supposed to be. Kinda like the 2000s. Yet they gave you 3m so now these '14 are closer IMO. Though I still love em, I admit 2010 was the worst and just took the "ash" thing to another level with that damn suede but it wasn't anything new with these black VIs as the ash has always showed up them since OG. Blame tinker for using Durabuck (durable nubuck) in the first place. If you have to be mad and blame someone and complain. All that said I still need 2.

I think they still are . Funny thing is I had 4 different pairs and sold them all. Each pair had things about them I hated. I just kept my 2001. Hopefully these are flawless

$185 for icy soles, 3m, and bright infrared if you have the 2010s no point in buying these imo but then again it's not my money

Even if it's durabuck, it's clearly not the one used in the past and the one people wanted used. It looks closer to what they used on the grade school version of the black/varsity reds. I think people wanted the more traditional one used recently on the black/charcoal 7s. This version leaves a grey outline.

The og durabuck only got ashy over time as in a long time.

The durabuck back in the day was no joke to the point of it feeling rubbery

My 2000 retro pair isnt ashy. The toes are a bit smudged and light fuzz but its a 13 year old shoe
