Has there ever been a case in the US where multiple people were sentenced to death at the same time? If Malvo could avoid the death penalty I doubt everyone involved in this would get it.

Yeah plenty. This country has executed like 2000 people since the 70's.
Off the top of my head Sacco and Vanzetti was one of the most infamous.
