All thanks to Nucky for wanting to "get ahead"
Nah b, we all got choices.

I don't even know how being a rape victim can make you so ****** up it makes you want to bang your son whose father is your rapist. In most stories the mother usually treats the child of her rapist like **** and doesn't love the kid. This was the extreme opposite.

Also Jimmy got his wife killed not Nucky. I'd also add Gillian got Tommy to end up in jail by ******* with his head too.

As horrible as what Nucky did he can only be responsible for so much and really it's only cuz he regretted a few things he died. Like I said if he was his regular a-hole self from S1 he would've never met Gillian at all or never go to bail out Joe Harper/Tommy.

I must say I was not on that band wagon of the kid actually being Tommy. I didn't see how Gillian could have made her way into his life, props to those of you who caught it so early. I'm content with the ending, and I appreciate the flashbacks more now. Although we knew Nucky gave Gillian to the commodore, seeing it made it more vivid. As a result, I felt no sympathy for him when he got blasted by Tommy.

The other story lines were obvious, no surprises there. Nuck was a piece of **** for not helping Gillian out though. I thought that would have been his redemption, to do what he should have done when she was 12. Somebody said those two agents were with the IRS. I wouldn't suspect Nucky of not paying his taxes, or handling his finances properly. Has that theory been confirmed?

that's the thing. Boardwalk wasn't like most stories and that's why it's so entertaining

yeah they can follow the traditional "mother hates children" route because she was molested as a child

but how many shows push the boundary and create a mother/son incest relationship because of that

this is a show that kills of main characters on a whim you're talking about here

It all started with Nucky though, that is the problem. Not trying to say she would have had a wonderful life if he didn't give her to the Commodore. She was an orphan going around stealing, that wouldn't have ended well at all.

But you have to remember this is a little girl with no family, no home nothing. I recall her saying that Jimmy was the one good thing she had in her life. Mentally she wasn't able to handle the rape, or even being a mother at that age. Most adult woman couldn't handle that. The only other option for her was to use what she had. So she turned to drugs, liquor, sex whatever was available. Her relationship with Jimmy was unnatural from it's inception. She was a damaged girl who grew up physically, but not mentally.

aye, finally bingewatched the season. Waited until all 8 aired and avoided this thread to not get spoiled since the game of thrones thread ruined many moments . So the Tommy reveal was just jaw dropping for me, I mean I had just a slight inclination the minute he showed up, but I was telling myself nah it can't be. Damn was I surprised.

As a whole, beautiful television. It was just amazing to experience ever since episode 1 aired.

This season was pretty good, but the whole HBO politics, budget, compact season, etc. had a definite impact on the overall greatness it could have been. I still love it though.

Hats off to Boardwalk Empire, you will be missed. It was such a Sunday treat. :pimp: :frown:

Aight, I just finished the series finale. I went into this season with low expectations when I found it was only gonna be 8 episodes and it exceeded my expectations a little. Every damn scene with Capone, Lucky and the commission was fire. All those dudes did a great job playing those roles. Other than that it was ok. I hate what they did to Chalky's character. Nucky's story and flashback scenes were just ok to me. Not sure how I feel about Jimmy's son being the person who killed him, I guess they wanted to send the message that he pimped out Jillian and ruined the family so it came back on him.

I wish this show could continue with the commission.

It would have been dope if Eli was on the boardwalk and jumped in to take the bullets for Nucky. Would have been a cool alternate ending. Can't believe Eli was never killed off. He's dead in the sense that he lost his entire family and is living in inescapable misery. Whats worse, pimping out a young girl or trying to kill your own brother?

Pimping out a young girl - but even worse the much younger girls he was forced to escort back home IMO.

Eli was always a bum.

Big issue between the two since in one the victim is still alive to suffer with the memories and in the other the victim is dead or if he isn't it's just an attempt. Given Nucky was the facilitator of Gillian's rape and not the rapist and Eli betrayed him two different times I'd go with Eli but not by much and I don't like to compare either. I like the idea of him dying by saving his brother. WIsh they filmed that alt ending. Ah well.

The level of betrayal by Eli was insane. Huge part of the reason the finale wasn't all that good. His last scene gave him hope at the least to reconcile with his wife and fam when he talked to Nuck. Plus he gave him all that money :smh:

Just gave that Daily News article @Mr Cashfl0w posted a quick read; love that Winter knew from Season 2 that Gillian would play a major role to the series' end. And to think I grew tired of her character going into Season 4/5.

Just binged the entire season over the weekend.

My god, that ******* ending.

One of the greatest shows ever.

I'll probably start rewatching it some time this week.

I'm kind of stuck on how Margaret just came up on $37.5M (present day value). Minus however much Nuck gave Eli.

The finale was as good as it could've been given the abruptly abridged season.

The Tommy reveal was way too obvious. Just re-watched the pilot and at one point Nuck offered Jimmy $1k which he refused.
Cool Easter egg now that the series is done.

The loss of Jimmy really hurt the show, way more than I thought it would. Seems that many left the show and never came back.

I was hoping it would somehow attract more people but no Jimmy and a "slow burn" pace at times seems to have killed off BE prematurely.

I honestly liked how it didn't drag on for years.

It had a nice run - and it IMO goes down as one of the best shows ever.

Yeah Margaret came up on the ill come up

Eli didn't get anywhere near a mill going off that bag. Looks like Nuck just gave him the last collection from AC

I just wish they didn't have to skip so many years. 6 seasons woulda been perfect.

But man, some of their attention to detail was amazing despite the fact they skipped 7 years. They included Luciano's droopy eye!
