Brazil 2014 World Cup

Get your credit cards ready because the first phase will be held in spring of 2013. You can select to follow your team, 3 games, 4 Games, 5 games, or all 6. The window to apply should begin in early 2013 and its lotto if your chosen.

I was chosen during the second phase. I picked up the 3 group play games for the USA and 3 group play games for Mexico.

For 2010 I spent around 4800. The most expensive part was the airfare. Food and hotels where cheap. I expect to spend way more for Brazil because food and hotels are more expensive. I budgeting around $11000 for me and wife.

I'm already actively looking for lodging. Tickets should be first, Airfare should be purchased before the group play draw or else you will pay more. Chose a city as a hub.

Nice. Repped.

Keep posting in this thread with advice, tips, updates.

Definitely planning on going.  Some of my family members are planning on attending, and I'll be taking my lady (her family is also going too- so I get to save on costs lol)

I've already been to Brazil.  It's DAMN expensive accommodation wise.  And best believe it will be worse by the time the WC comes around. My opinion, if you do hotel, book at the end of the end of this year, or beginning of next latest.  Pay a deposit to guarantee your spot.  Make sure you're at a credible hotel (Sheraton, Hilton etc).  If you do go this route, remember that  5-star or 4-star isn't the same everywhere in the world.  I stayed at the Sheraton (their 5-star) and honestly it was a 4-star at best.
How's the security there?

Every year I hear horror-stories from the F1-circus...

I'll be honest.

Last I was there. Not great at all.

Stayed at a Sheraton. They closed the private beach everyday at sunset because people were known to come on boats run onto teh beach and rob people.

When going to the cocacobana, we were constantly reminded by the hotel staff, to leave everything in the safe at the hotel. Don't take a camera, don't take anything flashy. Just shorts, shirt, hat, towel. No ipads, ipods nothing, cause you will be relieved of those items. They said they had countless guests complaining before.

They had tourist police which are the more serious police officers but only at places like SugarLoaf.

My boy was recently there though last year, and he says with the prep of the WC things have gotten a bit better, but you know how these things go, a lot of tourists, the goons come out.

Maybe cause your not a football fan and you don't know anything about the greatness that is brazil?

SMH. This has nothing to do with football. It is all the foolishness the athletes and fans do outside the stadium, The wild parties, the escorts, the drugs, the crime, the drinking, etc. Vegas is a very well ran city but **** was wild during All-Star weekend.

Brazil is a country who barely ready to host the event in the first place, has tons of prostitution already (under aged girls too), tons of drugs and sex slaves will be brought into the country. Added to this that there are tons of poor people in Brazil so all these European dudes wildin thinking they doing it will have huge targets on their back.

Brazil is a great country, but is it ain't ready for what's coming for them

Brazil prostitutes to learn English ahead of World Cup

SAO PAULO Prostitutes in one of Brazil's biggest cities are beginning to sign up for free English classes ahead of this year's Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup.

The president of the Association of Prostitutes of the city of Belo Horizonte says by telephone that 20 have already signed up for the courses and she expects at least 300 of the group's 4,000 members to follow suit. The association is organizing the classes and seeking volunteer teachers.

Prostitution is legal in Brazil.

Belo Horizonte will host six World Cup matches and Vieira said Tuesday "it will be important for the girls will be able to use English to let their clients know what they are charging and learn about what turns them on."

Heard the virus is rampant over there...wouldn't pay for some p that's prb infested.

I think I'm gonna try and go. My best friend is married to a Brazilian so if I plan with him I'll prob get a lot cheaper housing/accommodations. He's there right now for 3 weeks. Shipped an air conditioner down to his mother in law cause he refused to sleep without A/C down there ever again. This is his third time there since being married.

When he gets back I think I'm gonna start planning something. We already discussed it a few weeks back.

I sure do wish our money was the same as the last time I was in south America. Our exchange rate was like $2.60 for every dollar. I was living like a king in Venezuela. That was in 05.....Today......not so much.:x

I'm looking to save up for this too, the most expensive will be flight $1,600 but I'll see if maybe I can go to Colombia and go from there.

Tickets will be available through FIFA and sometime this year, accommodations should be cheap depending on where you stay but I guess staying on a American branded hotel would be best bet. The cheapest way is to go with a group, if you want to attend USMNT matches you should join the American Outlaws (supporters group) I know they get cheaper flights and hotels because they book like 2 airplanes to go to these events, plus you'll be staying around Americans so you might feel safer.

Security is tricky because Brazil is going through one of it's most dangerous times and a crack epidemic but they usually mask these things during the world cup, that being said don't wear anything fancy especially if you look American/European etc

food and yambs should be good and wrap it up brosephs

oh yeah the better teams the more expensive the match will be, obviously

im trying to put something together.. my buddy went to south africa and a couple matches for under 5g's..

Plan is already in the works to go. Just gotta save up some money.

Has anyone ever dealt with travel groups? How safe is it and how was the experience? I can't depend on some friends to go with because either they're a family man now or they can't afford it.

Man I am a few weeks from my return visit to Rio and going to SP for the first time. It's about to go down people.

i swear to god if i get my money up im going.

I guarantee i will have at least two baby mamas by time im done with Brazil

i wont be at the world cup but since I moved close to a brazilian community near Boca Raton FL it'll be like i am in Brazil. I cant wait  :pimp:

Brazillian Yambs and all the churasco i can eat :pimp:

if the money was right i would be there watching every single Mexico game.... brazil 2014 is going to be crazy.. world cup needs to come back to the states..

damn i was saving up for this, but these horror stories got me shook

i've never traveled out of the US alone before, and I would only go with a few friends. we aren't about that life

Im also planning on attending with a few friends.  We should start a Facebook group for everyone interested in going and update it consistently.   Ticket sales, hotels, flights and so forth.  That way its A WHOLE LOT easier to coordinate it. and we can all link up as one big American contingent in Brazil.  Watch games, party together and so forth.

Speaking of WC2014...I was browsing flipboard app on my ipad then i saw this article about prostitutes in Brazil are now taking classes to learn English for World cup 2014 and 2016 Olympics.

They are investing now for the future.

I'm glad that this thread is picking up steam. We should work together to help each other out. My only worry is that I may not be able to get a ticket for the games, I can manage everything else but I just hope to God that I can score some tickets.
