Bruce lee pioneered what we know as mainstream martial arts today. This dude created technical manuals on the science, philosophy, and poetry of martial arts. calling dude a actor doesn't do him justice.

people do not understand the martial arts and fluid dynamics of what bruce lee was and others who practice cultivation of qi. It's not about having brute force or pounding strengths like most Americanized martial arts has lead folks to believe. Masters of the art think what we think of the arts as nothing more then "flowery punches and embroidered kicks". It's about how much energy you can transfer with the most efficient range of movement. There are monks out there that train to pick up boulders and bricks tied to their testicles,  sleep with all their body weight on one finger, continuously make micro breaks to the bones in their hand punching brick walls and trees for years to develop harder bones to make more damaging punches and sustainable to injury. MMA is a joke to them
anybody see that documentary where the two american fighters went to train and fight against monks in asia? I shall search
Did you really just bring this up? Some people really have no grasp on what a real fight is. Very delusional.  Testicle train and break all the bones you want. That *+%$ ain't helping against an elite mma fighter. If you want to believe they're fighting gods out there who keep all the fighting secrets to themselves, go right ahead. I'm DONE with this thread. Have fun Anton

you avy is all kinds of wrong dude and chill with the delusional talk. you gotta realize there are people whose entire lifestyle is devoted to training. No alcohol, sex, orgasm, drugs, going out on dates, having a 9-5, tv nothing. just straight training all day everyday. training when you eat standing up, to training, how you go to sleep.  You're the delusional one for allowing tv to impress you to the point where an elite mma fighter is the best there is in the world to you. The world is much bigger than what you see on the telly young one.

Oh the irony.
And I bet there's a Buddhist mone somewhere better than Michael Jordan ever was, because all he does is train. Of course we won't ever see him play basketball professionally though, that would make no sense!

Lee clearly has unbelievable quickness but I think that Silva catches him and ground and pounds him. I think the real fight is Mas Oyama VS Silva. I’d pay to see that.

The irony just ironed you.

there are other venues for athletic competition that don't make it to tv you know. Plus you might not be aware of  underground fighting circuits either. You act like just because they aren't on tv they aren't talented. There are probably thousands of dudes out there with skills of mj, but they didn't make it through to the nba for some reason. Shoot, Michael Jordan didn't even make varsity when he tried out, and he turned out to be one of the most memorable players.

Bad comparison....Rampage Jackson is a professional fighter. No one is gonna call him "just an actor". Bruce Lee on the other hand was primarily an actor, who knew martial arts. Hell Jackie Chan has mastered martial arts and I don't see people comparing him to professional fighters.

Right. Actors who know Martial Arts create widely respected Martial Arts all the time.
Because actors move to Seattle and open Kung Fu schools. Because guys like Dan Inosanto, Chuck Norris train Martial Arts with actors all the time.

I can't believe this thread is still going and the stupidity is still this epic.

The fact that you bring Jackie up is hysterical because he is ADMITTEDLY an actor, not a fighter.

It is impossible to have an intelligent conversation with someone when they are so lacking in....intelligence.

You stay with the insulting responses dude.  I don't get where all of this is coming from with you.  Jackie Chan trained in martial arts as a youth.  He later became an actor.  ... same as Bruce Lee... no he didn't found any MA philosophies, but why are you acting like the comparison is night and day?  You need to cool down with the condescension.  You can get your point across without it.

Look.

How can you judge something that has never been seen.  Who has seen these buddhist monks???  Who has seen Bruce Lee fight???

The only people who spoke on Bruce were street fighters he beat (street fighters, mind you, not professional fighters) and those who heard about him from word of mouth.

In regards to everyone talking about how lightning quick he was and how he could kick a bag to the ceiling, to paraphrase Bruce himself, "bags don't hit back."

You can swear by Bruce's ability all you want.  But at the end of the day YOU have never seen him fight ANYONE.  Almost NO ONE has ever seen him fight anyone.  All of his acclaim comes from stories being told by lesser trained brawlers whose $%%@% he kicked.  Not MMA masters.

So I don't get where all the "he wasn't just an actor, he was on a whole other level" BASED ON WHAT?!?!?!?! His lightning quick hands in demos against Kareem Abdul Jabbar?

"He'd adapt to other fighters' styles on the fly!"  In Game of Death?!?!  The movie?!?!?!?!?!

Come on.  Like for real.

Hey Anton i've got a quick question.

Since it seems like you are not afraid/think you could beat Bruce Lee because of his size, do you think you could beat a Pacquiao or Mayweather who are similar in size?

The youtube video isn't even a "fact" its simply a video reinforcing my own "opinions" on a hypothetical situation. Because everyone on NT looks at every single post in a thread made by every single NTer before they post?

Come on son. If you like to question someone's intelligence choose a better example, stop reaching cause you're mad I don't think your hero is that great of a fighter.

Why would I care if you would agree with me. You think you could defeat one of the most regarded martial artist of all time with 3 years training. CLEARLY you either lack intelligence or are uninformed. Your opinion is void.

We have seen in the past that size does not always win, especially in the early UFC days by the likes of Royce Gracie.

The video is not a fact, but it was information that was already presented. You said no one has been able to post fights of Bruce Lee where he has dominated, why would you make that statement if you had not gone through all of the thread?

Bruce Lee isn't my hero, I just give respect where it is due.

You really trying to use Royce Gracie tho? Pure BJJ folks get dominated most of the time these days. The only reason he was so successful is cuz no one had seen BJJ in the UFC before him. Plus he wasnt exactly fighting top tier guys.

It makes me laught that people are insulting other people trying to prove that there right in a HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION

Anton's 6'4" 240 and was at some point a legit athlete but he doesn't have hand skills or any boxing training and obviously is nowhere on the level of a Manny or Mayweather, so this shouldn't even be considered.

But the way a lot of you are talking they probably wouldn't dominate him nearly as bad as all of you think Bruce would Silva (the pound for pound best pro fighter in the world...)
