I don't know why anyone thinks this wouldn't happen to a white, hispanic, asian etc...in a similar situation. Telling a cop you have no ID and handing over another damn ticket wouldn't make any officer rest easy. Hammond cops definitely jump harder with black people, but they're just as disrespectful to other races as well.

My boy told me a story, judge it for yourself...

My boy and his sister had a car that was missing a wheel. So they tried to go to the junkyard to find a replacement. It was a back wheel, so they sat on opposite sides of the car to offset the weight to keep the car from tipping. So a cop pulls them over, ask for info, the usual. This is where it got hazy.

The cops had them both get out, they comply. They tell my boy to get on his knees, he asks why... The cops proceed to whipping him like a rented mule. Him and his sister spent a few days in jail, appear before the judge and the judge says something along the lines like, "I have no record of your arrest, you're released"

I saw my boy and he had a mean knot on his head.

I aint in here to argue with anyone but was it that hard to step out the car and just follow instructions ? cop clearly says if you dont open the door i am going to do it for you, they both shake there head up and down. next thing you know cops busted the window.

And now its a situation bigger than it needed to be.

They ask for his information. they didnt tell him why they were asking him to get out the car, and didnt have a reason too.

plus, when they asked for the stuff, he reached in his bad and they pulled out their guns on him.

would YOU get out the car w/ some cops that are that ready to use force? especially if they're not telling you WHY they want you to get out the car?

I just dont know why folks think it's perfectly fine to have to violate your rights as a black man to keep from getting assaulted.

Co-sign to all of what you said but the last part is particularly important. The advice given to the public ,in general, and black men, in particular, is very similar to the survival strategies that people adopted when they lived in third world countries, communist countries and under other authoritarian governments. The protocols of how not to upset the authorities, the agents of the state, are sound advice for individuals but the fact that surrendering some rights just to survive is considered prudent acts as evidence that out law enforcement community is sick and out of control.

The black mans paranoia of police is absolutely warranted in my opinion. Them boys kill first ask questions later. In my experience tho I've had similar good situations with white cops and black cops as well as bad situations with white cops and black cops. They don't like a smart mouth either way and that's what usually got me locked up

He gets out the car, but opens the door from the inside

"We thought he was reaching for a gun"

He gets out of the car, but opens the door too fast

"We thought he was moving to strike us"

He gets out of the car, gets slammed on the pavement, and gets charged with resisting arrest

"We felt the force was necessary to subdue the criminal"

Little boy (14 y/o) gets out to help the dad because he's scared and here's his sister crying

"We had to detain the MAN (studies have proven that police perceive black kids to be 4 years older than what they really are) because he got belligerent and was an accessory"

If it's broad day and they're getting him for a seat belt ticket why not? And he could have gave him his ssn but instead he pulled out another ticket, that's about the last thing you should show a cop questioning you. I dunno where you live, but in the northeast being white doesn't get you special treatment, there's so much diversity and immigrants that even with fair skin you really don't know who's who until they open their mouth.

When I was 17, I was driving with 2 friends in the car, one one crutches. An undercover Hammond PD vehicle pulls me over, I was going way over the speed limit, I gotta be honest. So the cop asks me a little about speeding then makes us all get out so they could have a dog walk around the car because we "fit the description".

Crazy thing is, when the Mike Brown thing happened. I said cameras on cops would end buffoonery, but all of these incidents are being recorded with the cops knowledge and they still don't give a ****.

There are hundreds of videos of white people not only refusing to comply, but giving smart *** replies on top of that.

Meanwhile in the past two weeks alone, just from the videos i've seen on NT, black dudes have gotten

- his car window broken and tazed in front of his kidsfor complying and giving dude his info but refusing to get out with no explanation

- shot multiple times for doing exactly what the cop said

- pistol whipped twice after putting his hands up and surrendering

And thats only whats been caught on camera and a thread was made about it here​

It's funny, a police chief in Sorrento, Louisiana just pled guilty to tying up an unconscious drunk woman in his office & then raping her. He got a $2500 fine & 2 years probation. When town officials asked for him to resign when the charges first came to light, he told them to "stick it". He only just recently resigned. This world never ceases to amaze me. Nothing the police do amazes me any more.

The religious right (right wing in general) in this country has definitely voted in their people & legislated their way into changing laws to create a draconian state & help keep a boat load of people in prison so that billions of dollars can be made in profit.
