For the same reason we prohibit people from discussing porn sites or sites that facilitate software piracy... both of which went on there.
If we don't want people posting porn here, why are we going to let them post links to or discuss places where porn is displayed? It's common sense.
I'm not asking to allow software piracy but when it comes to porn we still allow sites that post nude pictures of celebrities without their permission. I'm not saying those pictures should be accepted to be posted but sites like TMZ and MediaTakeOut are still continuously referred to on NT.
That software piracy argument pretty much clears the issue of not being able to mention the site but I'd still like to know what you think about the porn issue.

Do you have any evidence to support the belief that we've lied to our users about our donations? Independent thinkers tend to base their beliefs on fact. If you don't have that, you're just spouting nonsense for the sake of being "an individual."

JRose was ultimately held responsible for his actions. The point was, it was difficult to prove that all of these off-site allegations were accurate. Over the years, JRose and I had a number of conversations in which I expressed the view that NikeTalk staff members are expected to represent the community. It's not necessarily your employer's business what you do with your free time (and he was a volunteer), but when it starts to affect the community then it does become our business. Our response reflects that.
The JJB thing is similar in that people attempted to use NT as a staging ground to plan "attacks" on other forums and that's unacceptable. You're not 8 years old. You aren't going to "raid" other sites while waving around the NikeTalk banner. That behavior is a horrible embarrassment to the community and we're not going to tolerate it.

Dude, we're on a free message board. If anything, the mods could lock US out for being idiots, not us walking away. This isn't the NBA or NFL where the owners are dependent on players for money and their games. We are dependent on the site to use it.
You walk away, there are tens of new users who will replace you. You and your small following, if you manage to get one, will not even put a dent into NT's total traffic and all you will be known for is e-lulz a couple years later.
How are you going to lockout something that is free to you?

Only thing I have to say on this matter is with all the ad revenue you make to donate can you just not donate one time out the year and actually get good servers? I look at it this way, our traffic allows you to donate to charities but what good is our traffic if we cant even get a good running site 20 outta 24 hrs a day. Yes I exaggerated the numbers of hours but it surely feels that way. This is my only complain. How can you take care of others but not worry about those under your roof. Im not against donating but just feel we should see the "fruits of our labor"(traffic) benefit us too.

As a Neogaf member, I can attest for the extreme strictness. That said, the OT side is a LOT more lax than the gaming side and is basically a entirely different website.
