Hear it all the time. Someone explain is this some jealousy thing from other countries or is there a legitimate gripe I dont know about?

Everytime you hear someone talk about this is the best country in the world....

Yeah...

But is it not?

Cultural capital, sports capital, financial capital, military capital, pornography capital, and on and on and on.....

Alot of countries have this view that america is full of dumb, spoiled, rich people. And when americans(some) go to other countries, they act they'rebetter than the people in that country, because they're from america. It's like they meet one stuck up american and they use that one example and thinkthat all americans are like that. Its judging before they know.

Thats it right there.

Because like when the Phillies won the World Series, they were called the World Champions. But America lost the World Baseball Classic, didn't evenfinish top 3 if I recall. That's why. I mean, it's called the World Series for chrissake.

It's like they're not arrogant really, but they just don't care about other countries. They live in a bubble.

When Americans travel abroad, they be trying to talk to the natives in English. I see this all the time.

No, it's not. Quality of life trumps all that and that is not exclusive to the United States. Yeah, it's a cultural melting pot, but nobody wanted leave their homeland to come here for fun. They came for the scrilla.

Living the good life doesn't mean working 60/hours a week, eating at chain restaurants, and driving gas guzzlers.

Then don't come here. Stay in your crappy home country. There are people who are willing to work hard when they come here. This country wasbuilt by people who emigrated from their home countries and worked hard.

people all over the world come to America to have a better life for themselves and their family; how many people do you see wanting to immigrate to Spain tolive a better life???

^Lots. Some of them even (GASP) American!

It's foolish to think that people only come to America to have a better life. Many of the so called first world countries have plenty of immigrants asdoes America.

Honestly, even though I may have my complaints about the US here and there and don't actually see myself living ANYWHERE else. Maybe like another housesomewhere in Europe or something but I wont leave.

+@% like that is why foreigners don't like Americans. "Go to your country!" "Speak English!" America has no officiallanguage. We go to other countries and make no attempt to learn their language. We put military bases in other countries (modern day Imperialism).

And another thing (and this is my complaint about how some people view their own city as the best), at least experience other places before claiming it'sthe best in the world

. I mean seriously.

I'm American if that matters.

American ignorance varies based on who defines it.

It can range from the arrogance or rather the ignorance that some Americans do display when talking about other countries or when traveling in other countries.

At the other end of the spectrum, American ignorance means that you do not show enough deference to the coffee house code that says that you must loudly asserthow much you hate all things American, feign interest in international news and make baseless promises about learning a new language.

The ugly American aboard and the wannabe jet set hipsters are both embarrassments to this country.

So out of all the countries America is the "brokest"? Check again dude and "brokest" isnt a word

It the same as the whole NY thing within the United States. We've grown up constantly hearing that our country is far superior than any other country be ittrue or not.

Exactly. I honestly don't believe that there is one "best country" in the world. Going to Europe really opened my eyes about howothers view us. I could name a lot more countries that have a better quality of life but that's for another topic.
