What was the point of Spatting your Cleats? Was it the benefits to your ankles? or was it a Fashion statement?

its so that your shoe laces wont come loose and for extra support on your ankle

To look fly the same with towels and visors. We played at night what we needed visors for

lol or NBA Headbands, wristbands, armbands, and baller bands? Plus the spandex elbow joint that AI wears? Dudes used to accessorize before getting on court.

lol at the tinted visors

i must admit, visors look cool

Its supposed to be for rolled ankles and to protect newly recovered feet from futher foot injuries.

During my Senior year, our coach didn't allow us to spat up. He didn't want any individuals or "prima donna's".

We were 4-6 the year before,

. A lot of Seniors that year didn't give a %!%% (It was that coaches first year, longtime coach left).

Senior year we were 8-1, heading to our rivalry game, he let us go out in style

. Dudes spatted up, and took crispy clean wristbands from the back of their lockers,
laugh.gif
. They went all out, D-Linemen looking like Deion.

I just spatted up, taped my wrist extra high.

It was purely for fashion.

Most of the time...ankle support.....and then of course fashion....you can't play good unless you look good.....

Spatting does nothing for stability .....it is purely a waste of tape....can't stand having towait to get taped up when some fool who ain't even going to play is taking up the trainers time for some spat, then complaining that is was tootight

my trainers didnt spat anyone that didnt have a ankle injury
so it was only 2 ppl that got spats me and a DE (2 DL) the skill players were jealous

it does look cool
and they def do brace ur ankle

The D-end that played on the opposite side of me had a back flap, he made all the receivers jealous
They would be in the locker room before the game trying to convince him he did not need it

It's for fashion to go along with your visor, towel, neumann gloves and sanitary socks.

its corny when dudes show up in shooting sleeves, arm bands, and head bands just to play a pickup game. its like for real? you're dressing up to play witha bunch of other dudes?
