We got a lot of gym heads in here...just a simple question of whether you do it or not. If it's the latter, why don't you?

usually. whether or not i put them exactly where i got them is a different story though.

I don't always re-rack plates. I usually leave a plate on each side of the bar for the next person if its a bench or squat rack.

I make the effort to put them back to its original spot if its a dumbbell, but if it's a plate, I'm not going reorganize them to be pretty haha.

I've seen dudes tell other dudes off though for no gym etiquette.

Do you guys make the effort to wipe down a bench or machine?

I always rack them.

Now if you don't wipe down the machine, that's a problem. That **** is just gross.

Yes, unless someone asks to have a certain weight to be left on the bar.

Folks stay putting dumbells back all over the place. If you can't put the 80lb dumbells back on the bottom row and keep putting them where the 15lb dumbells go.....it's probably not for you.

I always re-rack everything.

You should always empty the bar just to let people know you are done. Dudes leaving 135lb on squats come back over like "Excuse me! i wasn't done". Oh uh...sorry....looks like you are done now.

I feel like there should be a list of gym etiquette rules posted at my gym

1. wipe bench/machine when done sweating on it
2. re rack everything
3. If you walk away from your machine/squat rack for longer then 2 mins its fair game.

That's about it. :{ at dudes supersetting squats with anything.....leaved 315 on the bar dissappear for 20 mins...there are 2 racks in the whole gym man just bang out squats and move on....you are occupying the rack for 50 straight minutes with this non-sense.

99% of the time I do. Unless its leg press or something I'll leave a few plates

yes, for the most part I always put stuff back. It doesn't take but a minute, and honestly, just putting the stuff back can be a workout all it's own lol

first of all. what does "if it's the latter" mean?

but yes, I ALWAYS rack my weight, it's the proper thing to do and lets others know you're done.

as for the sweat, I'll wipe it down but after I'm done with my set it's the next dudes job. Only fair way since not everybody wipes down their own sweat. I don't want to wipe for myself and others.

Also if you're racking your weight, put it in the right section.

As for leaving the weight on the leg press, I don't think it's a good idea. Even if it's the 100 Lbs plate, you could still put it up yourself.

Yes, as should you. I've noticed when I'm PF, Half the dudes have the decency to rack their weights after use. However, when I'm at Gold's everyone racks.

always rack...makes everything easier for everyone.

only d-bags dont rerack......or people who have no idea what they are doing

and while we are on the topic...dont drop the weights...its stupid..especially because most people do it with 90 lbs dumbbells....if you cant control the weight, you shouldnt be lifting it.

Being in the gym is so annoying on deployments. Half the people in there are just to pretend they're working out. They leave dumbbells all over the place, knowing they're sweaty and still don't use towels for benching. It's a mess in there. And since after people New Year resolutions , they're coming in looking lost as ever./rantOh and yes, I rack everything.

I do most of the time. Only time I dont is when I'm finishibg and somebodys like "no no no, u can leave those there :o" :lol

Only time I drop weights is when I'm doing flat db bench. But it don't just drop em in mid air, its sort of a controlled drop. Like I follow them all the way down and the weights are pretty much in my hands still when they hit the ground........

^that's the correct way. Dudes who just drop the weights in midair while yelling kill me :lol

I've seent a HS kid last night doing DB shrugs with relatively light weight, like 65 or so. And son was dropping them

when all he had to do was move the DBs like a foot to put em back on the rack

I was shocked the DBs didn't land on his feet not once

Former = first of two things

Latter = last of two things

Yes, last time I checked my mama don't work at the gym so I clean after myself.

+1

Doesnt take too much effort to put weights away. Gives me a little time to rest between either reps or exercises.
