Since when does that matter?

If you don't understand the resources it takes to design, maintain, and improve the systems the general public interacts with on a daily basis, none of what I've been saying will make sense to you.

Do you understand twitters systems?

Because if you've got an insider take on why none of their stuff has failed yet, I'm interested in hearing about it

No you're not. Otherwise, you would have read the piece from that ex-Twitter engineer in charge of their server hardware, and you wouldn't have asked the question.

That article was posted twice in this thread.

So what insight do you have on why those people that left arent replaceable?

None I take it

Same as the rest of the people that left

Maybe people need phds to tell an algorithm "this isn't child porn"... Who knows

People of the internet are hilarious.

As an engineer, I've seen projects go sideways because of high attrition rates. At one point, I was the only person left on an assignment and I had to constantly remind folks (inside and outside the company I was part of) of all the background info they needed to understand why certain decisions were taken.

This is something that good companies protect themselves against by having good documentation practices and protecting those who put their core tools together. What am I supposed to assume when the new owner of Twitter starts asking the public questions about how his software works under the hood? He doesn't have anyone on the inside to inform him, and you cannot replace this loss of knowledge easily.

Chances are that whoever is left over there is solving problems that Twitter has already developed a solution for because they have no idea where to find it.

People of the Internet are indeed hilarious

Twitter refuses to take down images/videos of naked underage boys until law enforcement gets involved

"but now it's just going to get worse because the people responsible for these decisions are gone..."

Go figure

I feel like elon worth only a couple billion and elon 5 years later the richest person in the world are almost 2 different people. Like before he knew he could do pretty much whatever but now he knows he REALLY can and it's finally going to his head. But maybe not. Maybe he's always been this guy but past interviews seem to tell a different story. Just MY opinion.

Watching Musk totally avoid this question,
and the fact none of the right anti-covid lockdown zealots
don't seem even slightly curious about his thought on this

is pretty amusing.

Maybe one day, we will learn that making people richer than entire countries may not be the best way to do this capitalism thing...
