F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

Well, that was eventful! Max benefitted from the SC's, but so have McLaren in the past. Wins some, lose some.

I'll take a P2 P3... Max was quick today and the top 3 cars had very similar laptimes on similar tyres.
Osc seemed a bit passive at the start, perhaps thinking they had the race pace to get Max at the stops, but Max had the pace.
And Osc couldn't box again cuz he only had Softs left.

Good racing by a lot of the guys today.
If the SC wasn’t bull****ting for those laps, Lewis wouldve caught Oscar

lewis was on one today....sheesh. one he finally got past kimi in the first part of the race he was racing with his hair on fire. was hoping mclaren could pull it out but those VSCs def worked out well for RB (and others)

good result overall for ferrari all things considered but they ****** Charles during that last VSC...should have had him come in

Yes, I think so. Lewis was lapping at around the mid-18's, while Osc was around the mid-19's, IIRC. Was def closing the gap and had way more life in his tyres. Def had me nervous 😬😬😬

Not sure why the SC took so long. At the time, it looked like the crane-vehicle wanted to haul away Kimi's car, but later, we saw the crane drive off by itself, so I guess they decided to manually push it away. Took a LOT of time there.

It’s that AND had to waste another lap or 2 for Bearman to unlap and catch the pack

He had that much pace? Or was Oscar on super old tires?

F1 Tv Premium absolutely *hit the bed today. I couldn’t really take in the whole race because the feed kept starting and stopping and freezing and the audio was in an out as well.

Definitely just getting pro next season.

Yep. Lewis had fresh hards and Oscar was on 20 lap old hards at the time of the SC

After Lewis passed Charles, it was about 3 laps left and the gap to Oscar was 3 seconds. It was 1.4 when the Checkered flag waved

Get in, Lando! That was tense!
Back and forth with Charles 🤏 just there.
Osc looked a bit scrappy, but was right there as well. 🙌

Both McLarens doing 2 hot laps on their boots... wow.

Will be an interesting race with the 2 stop mandatory knowing how both McLaren and Ferrari like to screw up strategies.
Indy500 tmrrw too 🔥

I thought this was a nice new view.

Yeah, that drone shot was amazing.
Incredible how still the image was.

🙌🙌🙌 Not the best race, in fact, a pretty awful race and tense, but a Monaco win!
Thought Lando was gonna end up in the barrier on L1 T1. 😬 But glad he got thru unscathed and held on for the win. Frustrating to see RBR's tactics there, but I have no problem with it. It was the sensible approach and Max had nothing to lose.

But what a mess with this experiment. They keep trying to think of all these idea when car size and weight is still one of the biggest contributing factors. 🙄

I never considered this, but Ted said that there was probably a good portion of the viewers/audience who didn't know about the rule change and would have been confused as to why Max boxed with 1 lap to go to give up the lead! To add to the poor spectacle, there was some confusion as well!

Having said that, admittedly, I was very intrigued to see how the strategies would pan out (I ended up spending more time watching my timing screen and track map).

it seemed the announcers themselves were confused with the rules. couple instances of them discussing just taking a 20 or 30 second penalty only to later realize or be corrected that the penalty would be a DQ rather than time penalty.

whole thing was just sloppy like you said
