F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

I don’t understand why they didn’t switch Lando and Oscar. It was clear Lando didn’t have the pace to catch Max and was holding Oscar up. Plus the strategy was horrible from McLaren. All in all it was a pretty boring race.

They’re prioritizing the drivers championship.

Lando and Max within a point of each other now.

McLaren remains clueless 😂

kind of a meh race but nice drive by max holding off the mcLarens even though it felt like they held something back a bit

Sooner then expected

yeah making for interesting drama when it comes to mclaren's strategy. still a good race from the papaya boys but thought they could have pushed max a little more

at least charles held off the mercs...wish lewis could have done more with the medium

Yeah, I def thought they were gonna give Osc a shot and if he couldn't get past, then swap back with Lando.
I guess what made it tricky was that Lando was always within touching distance to Max (around 1-2s), so we weren't sure if Lando was gonna make a late charge had Max started to drop back. But by the time we realized he wasn't able to get within DRS, it was already too late for Osc to give Max any meaningful attack. Interestingly, I think the telemetry had Lando and Max having the fastest avg laptime in the race, with Osc just behind. But Osc was faster in the closing stages of the race.

Not yet! When they inevitably have their first proper on-track battle! Which could come as soon as next week! 😬

Strategy wise, I was more invested in their pit strategy. Could they have boxed Lando earlier for the undercut? Or kept him out for the over? At the time, I think they had to cover George when he boxed, so they boxed Osc right away, despite Lando being the lead car. And in not wanting Osc to undercut Lando, they had to box him on the next lap. RBR would have seen this unfold, so all they had to do was box at the same time to cover Lando. And apparently, the benefit of new tyres was too great for them to make the overcut work. 🤔🤔

Elsewhere, Kimi was very impressive. He was able to go superlong on the Mediums and was clearly the fastest late in the race on Hards. I thought Lewis was gonna get past him during his Medium stint, but I guess tyres dropped off towards the end.

Yeah... def a meh race... but I found myself more fixated on the timing screen! Prob stared at that more than the TV. 😅

I guess Mclaren just wanted to sit back and let their driver's race.

Disappointing result for Yuki to not score points but it's his first race in the car. Prob knows what he did wrong with the set up and hope he gets a better result next race.

What a lap from Oscar. Yuki making it into Q3 is nice to see. Would've been a statement if he out qualified Max.

💪 Osc has been on it the whole weekend so far!
I was wondering if we'd see a sub-30 lap... and we did from him!
Osc leading the championship after tomorrow? 👀

Lando had been struggling so far, so he better get his act together tomorrow.
His race pace looked decent, so he has to aim for a podium, at least.

But crazy how much time the rest found on their 2nd runs... Mercs were always gonna be fast, but Gasly?!

what got into Alpine :eek

russell is cooking, the wanker that he is :lol

oscar on a mission

Hate to see Lewis go out like this

I think Lewis is fine. I think his "issue" is the fact that these clunky generation of cars dont really fit his driving style, and he just simply isn't comfortable pushing the Ferrari to its limit yet. His race pace has been near identical to Charles most of this season bar Melbourne.

I mean look at China Sprint and Sprint Q, he was miles ahead of Charles.

Well... that was a wild one.

Get in!!!
🙌 Osc... so calm and so cool. So well controlled.

And all things considered for Lando... a messy one, but still a great recovery.
His pace wasn't that bad given the false start, having spent that much time in traffic and his battles.
Would not mind a DRS pen for George. 😅

How did Pierre keep Max behind him for so long???

Osc really on a roll now! WDC in coming?! 👀

Oscar's looking so much better this year, WDC will be his :nthat:

Forgot to post this last week but finally made it out to one of my favorite tracks on the calendar, the speed through the esses was incredible to watch in person.

Grandstand outside of T2?

Did you see Doohan's crash?

Great race by pastry. Very calm and collected. Lewis had a pretty good race. Some decent overtakes. Just needs to nail down qualifying. Nice to see Yuki scoring points. Let's see if he keeps that seat.

Current Lando Bottle Tally stands at 6!

The fact that he’s making so many critical mistakes in the fastest car makes this season so much sweeter.

I can’t wait to hear Lando’s excuses when Oscar hoists the WDC trophy in Abu Dhabi later this year.
