I think Jenny loved him but she couldn't love herself so she couldn't be with him. He was the only goodness in her life and she didn't want to ruin it. He showed her unconditional love and when she learned how to cope with the pain in her life, she could deal with him in a loving relationship. Their child is a symbol of that part of her.

I believe Forest Gump was pure goodness. He was a person striped of all ulterior motives, games, jealousy, and hate. And that is why his life played out that way. His kindness and sincerity helped him find peace and happiness.

QFE you guys forget jenny's childhood was horrendous, she was abused and molested.

That dosent excuse how she treated Forrest. You dont go and sleep around and denie the person you love to mess with someone you dont. Jenny seemed to be thegirl who was trapped and when she got freedom she SOARED AND EXPLORE. Then when she got too old for that she went to forest. If you wanna say her childhoodwouldnt she have clawed onto forrest instead onto others.

I'm not excusing her. She was just messed up and trying to find the right answers. She didn't know what loving someone is. It just took her some timeto realize what it takes and for her to get over her past. People don't usually want what's right for them, they are attracted to the wrong and hurtfulthings. That why they say that a father is important to a daughter because that's her role model for all the other male relationships in her life. Jennyjust need time to realize what she needed and break out of the cycle of physical, mental, and sexual abuse. We see it all the time. When women keep finding menwho beat them and when men keep getting with women who use them. It is a vicious cycle. I'm just saying that Jenny, unlike many people in real life, finally figured out what was keeping her down and saw what she needed was right in front of her face the whole time. We should all be so lucky.

Most of the time the person you love isn't mentally challenged. And that's a hard thing to get around for some people.

Yes indeed! This film is a masterpiece. I've watched it at least 50 times and it never gets old.
