I havent posted in a few NT but i always came to you guys for help since i get sooo many different views on the topic. I really wanna start my own business.Im tired of working for other people. Ive saved something like 10,000 USD over the last year and i wanted to put this to use.

I live in Trinidad which is an island in the caribbean. Right now we have a demand for alot of stuff, since there is no best buy, footlocker, footaction,wal-mart etc over here, we have a bunch of people that basically buy from the USA and sell here and a higher price. Im currently in search of suppliers thatcan give me products at a lower price than retail since ill be ordering alot at a time (bulk). Im not quite sure on what i wanna sell tho, basically once i canget a great price on PS3, XBOX360, Jordans, Nikes, Ipods, DVD Players, that kinda stuff, i can sell. im not going to open a store front just yet, since i livein an island, i can advertise and basically meetup with people for orders.

I currently sell XXX DVDs and i advertise in the news papers, the customer calls me, places order, i meetup with them at a mutual point for both of us, theypay, i pass over the dvds. This is the route im looking to take for now, since XXX is illegal here in trini and im soon to be 20 and i dunno how long i wannakeepup this kinda business for, gotta get serious, something more solid for the future. Our economy isnt in as bad a state as the USA but its not how it usedto be but people are still spending on stuff, alot.

So basically, cliffnotes are, i got 10,000 USD, wanna start a business, looking for some suppliers for electronics, consoles, clothes, footwear etc.

Try Ebay I've seen people selling supplier lists on there

dont wanna start tooooo big. so i think 10k is enough. ill basically reinvest all the profits for now.

its illegal but the law in trinidad is kinda slack on certain things, so we get through with the advertising.

i don't want do business with someone that's careless enough to get arrested 3 times for the same thing...

PeterJames, it wasnt illegal at the time but some people got jeleous that i was making some nice cash and i was making it on my own while they were at a deadend job making wayyyy less for far more work. needless to say, their cousin (who is a cop) pulled some strings and got me arrested. last time was when itbecame illegal tho, i let my guard down.

davidisgodly, what i wanted to do was see whats in demand really in the market so basically work on a order first system, let me know what you want and ill getit for you within the next 2 weeks kinda thing.

i was now checking out the ebay powersellers and they got some pretty good prices. anything to look for to know that a powerseller is legit? also, you guysthink they will be willing to gimme a further discount once i order a few from them?

i dont know how the US business attitude works so im asking you guys lol.

btw, anyone knows where these ebay powersellers get their stuff from? at such great prices that is to sell bellow retail for some and still make a profit?

whats the process really for ordering straight from the manufacturer in bulk? lets say a company like HKS, lets say i wanna get 20 of a certain type of blowoff valves, is there any way i can order straight from them? or that is to little a number of items?

im doing research on these things right now, just wanna get your views on it also.

-write up a SOLID business plan
-invest in a CLEAN website. I hate cats who tell me about their business and they got crappy websites.

I got people who do business in Trinidad... Invest that 10k in cellphones, buy trendy unlocked phones on ebay, ship them stateside and smuggle them into thecountry to avoid duty.

Im in Jamaica, for some reason islanders spend their life savings on cellphones. You got people with zinc houses own Iphones and BB Bolds.

aznjmacan, yea man, im actually lookin into that also.

you see, right now since i dont have a store front etc, that can save me money in rent etc to reinvest.

right now my second biggest problem is customs taxes/duty. i guess you guys cant help me with that tho.

im also interested in selling car performance parts for japanese model cars, evos, skylines etc since the market is growing in trinidad.

ill do up a website etc after i get a product at least to start with. im currently working on a business plan. thanks for the input guys, keep it comming.
