Then again, im from the North Bronx, borderline Yonkers. Most of my homies in the Pelham/6 train area call it the city though as well.

I never heard anyone but white people, usually not from the 5 boros, call Manhattan "the city". I'm from Eastchester/Gun Hill and all my life whenever someone was going to Macy's or Bloomies dudes would say they're going downtown. Definitely a Bronx thing.
