is Godaddy.com the best place to buy a domain name?

^ Exactly, they support SOPA and are losing a lot of domains because of it.

Namecheap.com is quick easy, and DOES NOT support SOPA

Dude have you been watching the news in the last MONTH

The answer is: HELL NO

Do you know what SOPA is?

Do you know that they helped WRITE SOPA?

They tried to slow people down leaving their domain because of their SOPA support.

This is a chart of people literally leaving GoDaddy:

Transferring your domain away from GoDaddy is free and saves you money in the long run (since GoDaddy's renewal fee is $12 a year, and you can transfer for as little as under $5), so there is literally no reason not to do it. The payment up front is for a 1 year renewal that you'd have to pay once your domain is up for renewal anyway.

Well at least you asked before you went ahead and did anything...

Good luck anyways.

And start watching the news and reading more.

Godaddy is the place to go when they have the cheap 1.99 deals on domains.  Domains have nothing to do with SOPA, you're just buying domains through Godaddy.com
HOSTING on the other hand, you definitely stay away.

Outside of SOPA, avoid Go Daddy if you can if you want to host - buying a domain, sure, but like the poster above me said, avoid Go Daddy at all costs if you're looking for hosting
