Seattle Sonics>>>> OKC Thunder

Are you guys all ******ed? Read the original post before going nuts. TS wasn't even serious at all.
Anyways, poor Sonics indeed. I was planning on making weekend trips out of driving down to see the Sonics and the Blazers.

Until the Seahawks moved out of the Kingdome they were known as the Sea Gulls or Seachickens...Then the SB came around and people actually thought they cared.Seattle was and is a baseball town. Football only when the Seahawks win.

Seattle has a bunch of Microsoft techie geek types and metrosexual coffee sippers who could give two %$#%* about sports around Seattle.

Come on Seattle or Minneapolis?

TJ Knows

capt.ada2da85c5f64d8d87442495a80b0f2e.seahawks_houshmandzadeh_football_wakc102.jpg

Though he had hoped to make his decision Sunday, Houshmandzadeh, pressured by Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer to stay in Cincinnati and by the Vikings to stay around the Minneapolis area during a visit, escaped from a Minneapolis hotel Sunday night, flew to Los Angeles and spent Monday morning trying to make up his mind. He weighed offers from three teams, along with their quarterbacks and the teams' chances of winning.

The final decision was Seattle

Seattle is quite possibly the WORST sports town, and not based on recent team performance. Seattle fans are the most disloyal, bandwagon-jumping, forgetful,******ed, what-have-you-done-for-me-lately group of "fans" in sports.

*begin rant about Sonics situation*

For 30 years, from 1967 to the mid-'90s, the Sonics were the consistent flavor of the town. The Seahawks had a couple good years in the early '80s, theMariners had sucked forever and the Sonics had found success in each decade all along, winning a championship and making a few finals appearances. The Marinersgot hot for a month and a half in 1995, and got a brand new stadium out of it. The Seahawks just plain sucked through the '90s, and still got a stadiumbecause Paul Allen funded some of it, but still, new stadium and nobody made a peep. But then the Sonics, the most popular and successful Seattle sports teamever, needed a little help from the people of Seattle. But unfortunately they weren't winning and people didn't care. Seattle sports fans turned theirbacks on the Sonics, with the excuse that they weren't good and nobody cared about the NBA. I guarantee that most of the people saying this crap were onthe edge of their seats in the mid-'90s watching GP, Kemp and McMillan. Seattle sports fans deserve nothing but miserable failure for turning their backson the team that has meant more to this city than any other.

*end rant*

In conclusion, worst fans in sports.

I covered this in my previous post, but Seattle was a BASKETBALL town for 30 years until the Mariners all of a sudden got good. Even then, it wasright back to basketball because after the '95 MLB playoffs, the '96 Sonics went to the finals, which is still farther than the sorry Mariners haveever been.

The overwhelming majority of sports fans in Seattle did NOT care about the Sonics leaving. Those pictures represent the true sports fans of Seattle who stickwith teams through thick and thin. Hell, even KJR didn't do any reporting on the issue until it was way too late. When your local sports radio stationdoesn't care, then that says something. They hopped on the bandwagon once they realized "oh crap, they're actually going to leave." Outsideof Ian Furness, there wasn't one peep about the Sonics leaving before 2008.

thats like showing the 10 iraqi's who actually wanted the US in iraq and saying "look, all of iraq loves us"

just because a few hundred of the city's million people show up in sonic jerseys doesnt mean a MAJORITY of the city cared that the sonics left.

if the lakeshow ever got sold and the new owner wanted to move them to Mobile, Alabama, better believe there would be riots all across so-cal

Seriously.

I used to live in Minnesota for a bit, but I grew up in Washington State. I'm a Minnesota fan through and through. Got brainwashed at an early age by thepops. Go figure! I get around I guess.

I can agree with that, however, that 1995 sparked the fans in Seattle and ever since that time, Seattle has been far and away a baseball town.
