I hope all the hype is done from kids who never understood or cared. For the rest of us I hope we get all the Js with Nike Air we have been hoping for years.

no one cares about jordans like they used to, especially when mj was still playing. the hype for j's is alot different now with the majority of the market never actually seen mj play ecxept in old videos.
jb and nike looks like theyre running out of ideas to keep the brand alive other than making money off cheap made 'nike air' shoes, sick children collabs with fanboi hip hop lames...
it is impressive to see the brand jordan started to last so long after he retired....it just feels like the end is near for JB at least for me.....
agree. back then the scene was soo much better. now its all stupid hype and money hungry jb that caters to the kids that buy wc4 and post to trade for yeezys. the wc4 thread is a joke....When Jordan was playing there was basically no resale market. There was a new shoe each year and different colorways of that shoe just like the signature shoes are treated today (XXXs). People who liked them either were fans of MJ, basketball or sneakers in general. What started to happen almost a decade ago was a whole generation of teenagers buying retros to fit in or look cool at school due to their perceived "exclusiveness" compared to the avg sneaker sitting on the shelves of any shoe store. I don't know if this was caused by the new resale/consignment market or rappers/celebrities wearing them or both. Jordans became trendy and anything that becomes that popular doesn't last. In the 2000s all the hype was with SB/dunks & bapes. That fad crashed a while ago. Those who have loved Jordans from the beginning, not because they sell out, still want and buy them. The posers and "cool" teenagers always move on to the next thing. If people like the shoes why should it matter if they are selling out in 10 minutes or at all? Why should it matter if the resale price is at $500+ on RD? I love the shoes and am happy the posers are not making it harder for me to buy what I want. It went from walking into stores weeks and months after release, to paying $20 extra a week or two early at local mom & pops to mom & pops charging minimum $250 for a GR and on top of that "you had to be regular customer" to even buy them at all. It was obvious there was a bubble when trash like joker 3s would sell out. Actually every damn cw was selling out regardless of what it looked like. I'm glad that now fans of "Yeezus" have that problem. You're seeing the same behavior over there. Wack Adidas shoes selling out that no one was buying/would've bought before Kanye had anything to do with the brand and will also sit once Kanye is no longer popular.
If you don't like the damn shoe, why are you buying it in the first place?!?!
To make a buck off of those who missed out on the release, but if you wait it out you can get'em at retail or just above.
ppfffttt....crack baby era...Fusion era says hello
today kids are trying to ask for tumbled leather on the wc4 instead of the original smooth leather....boy how times have changed...
That was a rhetorical question. That's still a pathetic reason. If anyone wants to be a "businessman" why not cut to the chase and sell product that you can make real money with, not chump change. I didn't realize it at first since it was like a sneaker heaven, but FC really did ruin sneaker culture. The first thing someone will do is look at FC's price. They set the ceiling price. I can't remember exactly at what moment things got out of hand. I picked up flint xiiis there in '06 for $200 a year after release. That was the first retro. In 2010 a terrible re-release with no 3m was reselling for $400-500 almost immediately. The original thunder IVs resold for $700 and a few years ago the re-release is nearly worthless. Back in 2011 WC3s sat for a long time after not being released for 8 years. 2 years later people are going crazy paying $400-500 for both NA and Jumpman pairs. Was Kanye or someone popular like him rocking the WCs in 2013 that drove up demand like that? There is really no logic here other than people trying to be cool and buy what is considered exclusive or what is trendy at the time. Before the OG cws were the ones in high demand and post 2011, its all retro+. For a long time people wanted a Columbia XI release and even complained about the Silver Anniversary XIs and when the legend blue finally releases it's worth much less than the other XIs while the Pantone and gammas do better. None of this makes much sense.
This is such an in the moment type of thought process. All JB has to do is release a highly coveted retro and limit it to 10,000 pairs and people would be losing their minds
WC iv sold out tho
But the last few releases have been garbage. Only dudes who been collecting shoes for ages wanted them to releases. No one cares for maroons or any Viii And what not
but Chuck Taylor didn't really have any real contributions as a basketball player. people should at least have the slightest bit of idea of what MJ did as a player.
Fusion era says hello
I nderstood the article to be "resale hype is over"
