is the wire a good show?

I didnt like season 2 the first time I watched it but after watching it again I ended up liking it and enjoyed it very much. It gets a lot of flack bc it wasnt' all ab the barksdales but it was a very solid season

It's not the weakest season though. The writing was brilliant and Sobotka was one the series' best characters. It also laid the foundation for season 3, which I'm assuming you didn't like if you hate season 2.

The writing was brilliant to you.

Season 2 if the Weakest Season, after that is Season 5.

I skipped Season 2 first go round and it didnt hinder me understanding season 3-5

I went back and rematched the entire 1-5 and still felt Season 2 could have been left out.

The Season is Trash to me and many others, it's impossible for you to tell us we are wrong because it is our opinion, so lets dead this now.

lol

Nah not even that, it`s just wild boring lol.

No I'm not saying you're wrong for not liking it, you just haven't offered anything worthy of dismissing it besides that it was "boring." That's pretty vague.

If you can't admit that the writing was great, there's no way you can say that the writing was good in any other season because s2 had the most layers and was arguably the most ambitious in its storytelling.

bruh it's my damn opinion lol

The Story line was not interesting, the characters introduced were not interesting nor likable. The introduction of the School kids was better than the Docks story line.

I thought season 4 was the best season, so maybe we can at least agree on that.

Simon and Burns entire reason for creating the Wire was to shed light on the importance of every institution in Baltimore and how it led it's part to the city's decay and how social and political constructs are really not viable anymore, It wasn't just intended for entertainment, it was sociological in nature and eye opening.

To take away season 2 would be to dismiss one of the most important facets of B-More's history. Ultimately it was a show about Baltimore.

Maybe I look at different because I'm familiar with the Greek tragedy aspect and how it was applied here, I don't know. But I'm not trying to "be different" for liking season 2. What good does that do me?

Season 2 should be like the anthem for people who are fed up with the way this country is constructed and ran in the present.

Scarface is overrated. Lol cats tryna big up a trash season to look cool and act like they are different. The general concensus is wire season 2 sucks which is why that whole story was deaded after the season ended.

It wasn't deaded cuz of that, each season had diff themes, politics, education, media, etc. They moved onto politics in the third.

I had no idea people didn't like how omar's story wrapped up. I thought it was pure genius.

I didn't like it simply cuz he was my fave Character but it made sense, he could only go one way and that was the most unexpected way

Just started season 4. I can't believe it was all good just a week ago betweenStringer and Barksdale. What happened to "us"? :{

You can play a drinking game with the way Broadie spit every episode :lol

Uh, yeah. The Greeks were an integral part of the story. Without them, there is no wire. They are in the background lurking all the way through the end of season 5. Truly, they were the only ones that were really winning or won "the game". They may have been boring because they weren't OD wreckless like everyone else. Smart, calculated, kept things in the family with those they trusted.

The thing is the Greeks are probably the most despicable people on the wire after Marlo. But it`s what we see in the real world at the end of the day, black communities destroyed while people in the shadows profit off of their destruction.

No matter how much people like the Greeks doesnt take away from their season being boring lol.

Season 2 was not boring. After truly understanding the series as a whole, I watched season 2 and saw a totally different outcome.

 best intro music by far

Cosign with Season 2 not being my favorite, i understand the necessity though

It would have been dope if they used What We do by Freeway as the theme song for the show :smokin

I can understand why a lot of people aren't crazy about season 2, but it was definitely a vital part of the show as a whole.  There is way more to Baltimore than the westside drugs and crime and I think the Wire did a good job of incorporating more to the storyline.

On another note, I still wish some of the actors would've at least tried to learn a baltimore accent.  Half of the main cast made the show sound like it's set in New York

Not scrolling through this thread but I'm on season 2. a few episodes in but so far its good. The first season was legendary, I watched it twice and now this second time I'm finally going to go through this whole series. :hat

Just finished. Kinda ironic that from that group of friends, Namond got pulled to the "special" class and in the end he's the only one who didn't fall back to the streets.

I just finally went and watched the corner after all this time and i really enjoyed it. Its a lot more raw then the wire i felt you feel for the characters and their situations.

Said this numerous times in many threads on here. Only dude that tried was D'angelo and Omar....but Omar just sounded like a dude from the south :lol.

My only gripe on the wire is that. Imagine watching Fargo, and the main characters sounded like they were from NYC. Black Baltimoreans have a distinct accent. White ones have a very distinct accent too like Principal Donnelly.

In Baltimore, we sound like Snoop, Donut, Lor Kevin, Fruit, Prop Joe etc. It's clear as day who is a local on the show. Them NYC actors gave no effort to sound or look like us :{ :lol.
