is the wire a good show?

Just finished season 2 and I was pretty bored by the whole docks story. Please tell me it isn't a different part of B-more every season?

Indeed it is but it gets a lot more interesting, season 2 was my least fav season. The seasons after are some of the finest seasons of TV ever imo, especially season 4 for me.

Good to know. Shame was happened to D and Stringer's getting shady with it....

He did him so dirty man :{. Stringers evolution from street smart dude to trying to become an entrepreneur was also another bright spot of the show

Yeah. From what I've seen so far, I like that dude is a capo but has time to go to a community college and apply that to the streets. And all these years, I thought Omar was a gangsta gangsta, but his revenge story because of his boyfriend was pretty surprising. Talkin' about ol' boy was the most beautiful thing ever :lol

Just finished season 5 and whewwww this show was definitely worth the watch. I didn't think season 5 was as bad as yal make it out to be.

To me, 1>3>4>5>2

The evolution of the characters really made the show to me - top to bottom every character's struggle was highlighted perfectly.

Omar, Stringer, and Bubs were the three that I was most impressed with, but the city's story as a whole really resonated with me.

This is most definitely one of my favorite shows ever.

Yea Omar getting got was the most disappointing part of the show by far

Also, Dukie becoming a fiend at the end

 hurt my soul man.

Season 2 is trash because the Dock characters are not likeable. Who cares about the aspect of how the drugs get into bmore lol that joint just wasnt likeable or entertaining

I liked S2 characters.

What's his name with the nickname that dies(was annoying but warmed up to his character as a joke), the father who was in charge trying to play it straight until they forced his hand, the Greek and his right hand man.

I'm completely hazy on names especially since they aint show up since then.

I know that when I said I was about to watch The Wire ppl kept telling me to power through S2 before I even got there and when I did I was pleasantly surprised.

He became the new bubs, mike the new omar etc the show closed out as good as a show can. Most shows finales are garbage, but wire was solid

If you needed an HBO series to school you on inner city crime idk what to tell you.
Try again. Season 2 was more about unions, death of labor, political corruption, the middle class and working poor being trumped by the major players, etc. than it was "inner city crime." The streets were just a backdrop in s2 intended to draw a parallel.

No other television series has dove into these topics as realistically or effectively. It was groundbreaking.

If you need people getting "whacked" to determine if it's entertaining or not, idk what to tell you.

All things I dont really give a flying crap about.

Hell I`m going to watch something I dont care about? Because NT says so? lol

I watched Season 2 and understood everything that happened, still does not defeat the fact it is the weakest season.

Scarface is overrated. Lol cats tryna big up a trash season to look cool and act like they are different. The general concensus is wire season 2 sucks which is why that whole story was deaded after the season ended.

It's not the weakest season though. The writing was brilliant and Sobotka was one the series' best characters. It also laid the foundation for season 3, which I'm assuming you didn't like if you hate season 2.

The story was "deaded" because the story was complete, as declared by David Simon in the Odyssey.
