When was that?  He was NEVER undoubtedly the best center in the L.  Yao Ming was never gonna be this great dominant force.  He's a skilled center and that's just what it is.

From when he entered the L until Dwight came?

I'd say from 04-07 he was the best center hands down.

Not done in the sense that he isn't good enough to be in the NBA, but I don't think that he will ever be as good as he was 3-4-5 years ago.

And he lived up to every ounce of it. 20 and 10 with 2 bpg over 50% from the field and pretty much an 85% FT shooter. Did he not live up to the hype?

The guy is putting up good numbers right now even in limited minutes. He's putting up 13, 7 and 2 with his usual high percentages in under 24 minutes a game. How many C's in the NBA put up those kind of numbers?

Yao is far from done because even despite his physical advantage he is a very skilled player. The problem ofcourse is his health and unfortunately that is something he cant control. He isnt like those lazy a.ss NBAers who put in little work during the offseason and then get hurt during the regular season due to poor conditioning.

I dont think he's finished in the sense that he cant contribute anymore but I think he's finished in the sense that we probably wont see him play 35 minutes a night and put up 20 and 10 a night anymore. He remains a very effective player but the Rockets are going to be forced to proceed with caution if they want to prolong his career.
