Ladies and Gentlemen, Pictures of the XIX's Have Arrived....

Hey,

I think people should take a look at my post at the top of page 9, if your too lazy, here it is again :b

I think that with time, people will start to appreciate this shoe more.

This shoe has had alot] of thought put into it. My prototypes are the best performing Jordans (for the most part) I've ever played in, as well as the lightest and they arent even the finished shoe.

The fact that this shoe has similarities with the XI doesn't mean that JB is out of ideas or anything, simply thats what was requested of the shoe in the briefing for Tate. A shoe can gain inspiration from anything: a car, a place, an event, or even another shoe,(answer vii ) and the XIX really shows this with the shape of the lace cover resembling a snake (Black Mamba).

When they start the design process of a Jordan, they really think about things like the longevity of the design, what will be popular in the near future, whats a good representation of MJ at this stage in his life and just about anything else imaginable to ensure that the shoe lives up to its name.

The design team for the XIX really wanted to solidify the Jordan name as the best performing shoe on the market. As of late the consumer has been buying solely for the name, the series has been feeding of past success and they wanted to change this. With the XIX I personally belive they have done so but bringing back some of the aura of the Air Jordan, as well as adding to it.

Well I hope this helps you to understand the XIX a little more...

Ok... now with all these people saying that parts look 'slapped on' or are there to 'hide something'..if a un-educated statement. As stated above, all aspects of the shoe are planned out ahead of time and nothing is left 'unfinished'.

So although it may not appeal to you... this shoe has had more thought and time put into it than another model on the market.

Thanks again

yea... he is definately right... there is a lot of thought and time that goes into producing an Air Jordan shoe... and you also have to realize that there is not piece on that shoe that is there for no reason.... every part of the shoe has a purpose... and the lace cover is a very main part of the shoes performance...

the lace cover helps the performace of the shoe... you have to realize that no piece is there, just to be there...

I dont care about what time and crap was put into the shoe, if I dont like it, I dont buy it and these are no exception. Jordan Brand WTH is going on??? (Even with saying that, I know I will contradict myself and get a pair anyway, maybe in a diferent colorway tho :D

I agree with a lot of what you said manposite, but how do you explain the XVII? All in all, I think that was a pretty disappointing shoe on all counts.

Hey,

Sorry Slam, but I dont really understand what your saying...? possibly you could inform me or elaborate on your question.

I have a fairly good knowledge about the XVII seeing i know Wilson, if you'd like you can hit me up in private. Feel free to IM me at: manposite

Thanks again

don't like the XIX at all...

hated the 16 - that shoe was hideous
loved the 17 - didn't put the covers on once!
loved the 18 - white/red was too good to pass up.

NO MORE LACE COVERS.

lace covers won't help you play ball better. does it keep your shoes from untying? probably not. a double knot will take care of that...

Lace covers are purely for the non-athlete. if anything, why not have a pair with the cover for "flossing"* and a pair without the covers for players? I buy basketball for playing basketball, not for everyday use.

*<my first attempt at slang>

I have a feeling that the XX won't be having the lace cover, first because I don't think Hatfield will allow another one to go into the design and, two, because of the overwhelming amount of complaints. Yeah, I could be really wrong, but it's just a prediction.

That's not to say I don't hate the XIXs cover. Plus this is just a prototype so now we have to wait for different pictures.

DutchRT, you sounded a little "off the wall" at 1st, about the KobeTwo being designd better than the XIX, now you just sound too hard to please. But hey, it's your opinion.

Yeah I guess so. I think my expectations were just a little bit on the high side. But fair is fair, I need to see a finished production model in real live. Pictures can only tell you so much.

Enh, why would you have high expectations? If(as you say) there hasn't been any good J's to come out since '95, why would you even have the desire to look at the pics? Since, you just KNOW that they would be a dissappointment.

All I meant was that this:

"When they start the design process of a Jordan, they really think about things like the longevity of the design, what will be popular in the near future, whats a good representation of MJ at this stage in his life and just about anything else imaginable to ensure that the shoe lives up to its name. "

while admirable, didn't seem to apply to the finished product that was the XVII. In other words, I wasn't impressed. At all.

Hey,

SlamEd:

Im not really sure which aspect of the shoe you were let down by, or just overall but I'll try to cover them all...

The XVII is the only Jordan so far geared towards an older, heavier player which meant the shoe had to be constructed differently. This confused me seeing that the targeted audience are only in their teens, but anyways...

They weren't as responsive as the previous models but were alot more supportive, maybe 'restrictive' to help protect and aging athlete. With this, they made the shoe very anatomically correct to the natural topography of the foot for increased overall comfort and fit.

IMO the design of the XVII is very good with the classic feel, flowing lines, and the implementation of all the technologies. As stated above, the shoes shape is as close to the humans foot as possible while still semi-generic and that gives the shoe an organic feel. The XVII were the first Jordan to have alot of different prototypes tried, which helped refine the shoe and eliminate any problems. Seeing I own a few of these early prototypes, I can compare and see the problems that the design team delt with throughout the process.

Its the little things that add up such as: the variable lacing, outrigger, modified outsole, midfoot pods and how all the lines flow into another, really make the XVII an Air Jordan.

Well I hope I helped somewhat, and feel free to ask any other questions.

Thanks
