Let's talk The Sopranos: FINAL SCENE

the wire is up there...

but sopranos is way better...

i think more people didn't know about/watch the wire cause they didn't relize the severity/realness to it...

Word, maybe one day I will try to get into the series.
I hope Lost doesnt disappoint like this though

im a huge sopranos fan, watched every season, and was not crazy upset with the ending (only a little based on natural frustration from a damn blank screenpopping up) but anyway...

The whole show, especially at the end, was a character study of Tony Soprano. It was an exploration into the mind of a mob boss who was more human than any mobboss ever portrayed on TV or film. Why else would they have half a season of Tony lying in a hospital dying. The show was a metaphor for FAMILY, what FAMILYreally means, and how the family system can come into question in certain situations (like the mafia). He struggled with relationships (him mom, his girls, hiswife) because he was a flawed father and husband, as well as a flawed mob boss. However, at the same time that he was so flawed, he showed what it meant to bea good husband and father, through unconventional ways (learning how to treat people after what he'd been through with his parents, especially his dad). You can learn alot by simply watching all the Dr. Melfi scenes throughout the years.

In the end, he came together with his blood family in a diner setting to symbolize where his heart and loyalties ultimately lie. On the outside, he portrayedhimself as loyal to those who care least about him (or want him dead), but in the inside he was most loyal or at least wanted to be most loyal to his wife andkids. In the end, he established trust and love for the one family in his life that really matters.

As a huge Sopranos fan at first I was upset with the ending just because I thought my cable went out and that I missed what really happened at the end. However, after really thinking about the show and the creativity of it I realized how great the ending truly was. Yes the ending is open for interpretationbut to me that's the beauty of it. Often times people want everything to be spelled out for them, nobody wants to think or be creative anymore, which istruly sad. The ending had so many different parallels to it and it got people talking the next day about what happened, did Tony die, was the guy walking tothe bathroom just a customer, what were the blacks guys that walked in all about. As far as I'm concerned it's one of the best final scenes ever.

Also for final closure The Sopranos>The Wire. At the end of the day The Sopranos is the "thinking man's show" where as The Wire is not. Inlife, you either like chess or checkers. I'll go with chess.

yea I think Tony died too. in an earlier episode that season, Tony and Bobby were sitting in a boat talking about what happens when you die, and Bobby was saying how he thinks everything just cuts to black when you die. and thats exactly what happened with Tony in that last scene. the screen cut to black. Tony def got popped

Ba-Bow!

Awesome show, in fact, my favorite drama series (with OZ as a close second). Although as a fan I hated the ending (left me wanting more lol), it definitelywent out in true David Chase/Sopranos fashion, which is a thought process light years ahead of everyone else.

Great Finale... so great that people will still be talking about it many years later. EPIC!

I liked the ending. It was like a big "!+$# you" to all the loyal soprano fans.

The Wire trumps all. Heck, even True Blood is more entertaining than the Sopranos.

the link that explains the ending makes PERFECT sense. tony got shot by the dood in the member's only jacket. once the whole "tony'spoint-of-view" camera angle is explained...the director/writer himself even said everything you need to know is THERE. usually when i read people'stheories, i take it with a grain of salt. but learning that the writer spent TWO years to write this final scene, it was an artsy fartsy way to end the show, and it is greatly appreciated

man i was sooo pissed!!! screw that symbolic crap!!! people want to see stuff happen, thats why the end of the Wires seasons are soo much better, they go intodepth of what people end up like.......i love this show but after season 4 it took a nose dive.....the episode where Christopher is killed had me like

*insert chubby baseball player busting out laughing* This is up there with some of the dumbest comments I've ever read on NT.

its true though people got sick of sopranos when it started getting all about symbols and metaphors and #%+@...I happened to really enjoy the last couple ofseasons maybe even more than the first couple

Tony didn't get whacked. The audience as a whole got whacked. The screen fades to black as you're looking at Tony
