I don't see how you have SC winning the Pac 10 and having Lane Kiffin on the hot seat at the same time.

You serious?
He is under a microscope

how dont u see he's on the hot seat.
if he does some dumb %%++, which he has done at every spot he's coached at, u dont think hes a goner?

really didnt think I had to explain that considering the investigation, probation and new AD.
I'm guessing you believe Mike Garrett hired Lane Kiffin?

While Garrett was out interviewing Mike Riley (Man-crush) and Steve Mariucci, the Board of Trustees was busy trying to bring Lane & Co. to USC.

Pat Haden was a part of that search and instrumental in bringing Lane back.

Tell me the dumb $+!# he has done at every spot, outside of Tennessee?

He coached at USC for years, aside from being a douche, he was clean.  Guess what Nick Saban and Urban Meyer are douche bags as well, no hot seat for that.

Then he got a job with the Raiders that he clearly was not ready for, it's funny how it turned from an Al Davis mockfest to something about Lane.  The Raiders used all the stuff that happened at Tennessee as basis for their quirky owners claims.

really didnt think I had to explain that considering the investigation, probation and new AD.

The whole year he'll be on the hot seat. Pat Haden is a hard $%$ and will look for anything.
The investigation at USC is over, the one in UT just begun, it will not affect Lane just like ours did not affect Pete or Reggie.

Again, for the third time, the new AD was instrumental in bringing him in.

Maybe it's ESPN, East Coast bias, the hate seething from Rocky Top but there is no feeling of a hot seat on campus.  Everyone just wants the season to start, so the focus can be on the field and no longer on the sanctions, and the imaginary hot seat that Lane Kiffin is on.  Hopefully Dooley and gang could win some games so bitter UT fans can move on as well.

This coaching staff is a whole is being looked upon to hold everything together.  The biggest selling point for the next 2-3 years is still churning out NFL prospects.

Do you want me to explain to you how foolish it would be to fire Lane Kiffin after year one?  Think about it.

being part of a committee who had to resort to their 4th choice. its not like Lane was the 1st guy they called.

every Head coaching job Lane has had he's done stupid stuff. u dont agree?

If Lane Kiffin does some silly %#@@, and puts the school under investigation again, is it stupid to fire him after a yr?

and Im a Lane Kiffin fan

If this was any other school besides USC you wouldnt even be debating this

Who are you guys hoping comes out and has a breakout summer practice to solidify a spot?

I would have to go Taylor Lewan and Denard Robinson right at the top. Alos looking for Daryl Stonum to have a big summer and become a true WR. On D, Cam Gordon and Justin Turner. I think if there are two more guys to claim starting spots these two have to do it. I would like to see Cam closer to the line and Turner play the centerfield safety because he is a playmaker waiting to burst.

Hope this team has some stones and wants to win because it has been ugly for two year. I think the 2009 recruiting class will start to have a big impact in their second year and become the focal point to what RR is going to do here.

Where did you get this info?

The Lane Kiffin hiring was the final nail in Mike Garrett's coffin.  It was always a rumor he would be ousted, but the way the Board of Trustee went around his search clearly signaled the end once President Sample retired.

Board of Trustee's went after Lane Kiffin and his staff from the start, while Garrett was doing his Dog and Pony show for the media.

every Head coaching job Lane has had he's done stupid stuff. u dont agree?
What did he do at SC as an assistant?
What did he do with the Raiders?

He +$#@!* up a lot at Tennessee, that's about it.

I was more skeptical than you when it came to Lane, but it's been seven months.  I still want to see results on the field, for him to prove he deserves the job.  However, this whole "Wait until Lane Kiffin #@*%@ up, witch hunt" is getting old.

It's just silly how scrutinized he is, for stupid +*$$.  Taking his time to release Seantrel and Stanley from their LOI's caused a whole segment on ESPN shows when Urban does that +*$$ all the time.  It's ridiculous.  The PR stunt by the Titans with their silly lawsuit.

Lane Kiffin was their 1st choice? Hogwash! and u know that...

attempting to kick a 75 yard FG is enough to get any coach fired.

Big Ten Network has all the Big Ten coaches on the Kick off special. good stuff;

If D-Robinson can play anything close to Pat White while he was with Rich Rod, we'll be in good shape. IMO our offense is good enough that if he controls the offense (Stays away from dumb mistakes sorta like Iowa last year) and makes bigs plays, we'll make a bowl no doubt. Only thing I'm worried about is out defense man

Coach Paterno is entertaining. said he's been wanting to expand the big 10 for yrs now, says he wants an eastern team

so JDR, Jeff fisher and the Udub coach all didn't get looked at before kiffin?

even if haden did want kiffin after what the NCAA did to USC and kiffn history you dont think he is walking a tight rope?

They all got looked at, seems through the hiring process there was a requirement to bring someone with USC ties back on campus:  JDR, Fisher, Sarkisian and Kiffin all fit the bill.  I don't think they had them in order, they went after those four to gauge interest.  Obviously, Jeff Fisher is the most qualified of the bunch but also would've been the most difficult to bring in.  Kiffin was the least accomplished, along with Sark, but what Kiffin brings in his "entourage" made him a very attractive candidate from the jump.

Jeff Fisher was interested but decided to stay with the Titans
JDR was interested but was leaving too much money on the table with the Jags.
Sark was interested but decided to stay at UW.
Kiffin was interested and jumped at the opportunity.

The hiring process did not go as you guys say, and also as the media made it out to be.  It was very tight lipped, but those 4 were the targets, Kiffin was the one that took the bait.

No.

He has fallen in line, Pat Haden and JK McKay are looking over his shoulder and Kiffin understands there is a new regime in place.

Also, it would not benefit the program to fire Lane Kiffin after year one.  Even though most are not enamored with Kiffin, the staff he brings with him is just too talented to let walk away, which will happen if Kiffin is let go.

It was important to the Board of Trustee's and Pat Haden to get a coaching staff in place before signing day, since Carroll's departure was very abrupt.  The staff did an excellent job holding the recruiting class together (Seantrel and Stanley aside).  No one expected the sanctions to be as harsh as they were, now that they have been handed down the coaching staff has done a great job of holding the team together and has been cordial and politically correct in front of the media.  Anybody could've bounced, but the only guys that left were Juniors and Seniors that were buried deep on the depth chart after Spring Practice.

It doesn't benefit the University in any way to fire Lane Kiffin after one year.  I doubt this team will bomb, and in seven months Lane Kiffin has been completely under the radar.

Yall see the pics of this embarrassment that Eastern Washington is putting on their field? The NCAA needs to outlaw this, or the TV companies need to say they wont air any teams game unless its played on green turf or grass.

I HATE Boise State with a passion, but they are a good football team. Their conference schedule might be trash, but they have shown they can play with anyone. I don't see how anyone could have them outside of the top 5, and in my opinion they should be 3rd. I am really looking forward to that BSU/Virginia Tech game. Think its going to be good.

Just put Can't Reid at his spot. They'll be good.

Edit: Rantavious Wooten is gonna miss the next couple weeks of camp for UGA with a sprained knee. Should be fine by 9/4.

I agree that it takes a good squad and focus to lose only 1 game in 2 years but like last year they basically play one game, VT, and thats it, maybe oregon state.
And i thought there was some rule out there about non-green turf? i'll see if i can find it. I remember reading an article a while ago.

nevermind found this on boise states wiki page

"The unique blue turf has spawned several myths. The most prevalent myth is that the NCAA subsequently banned playing surface colors other than green, but allowed Bronco Stadium's field to remain blue under a grandfather clause. In reality, the NCAA has never adopted such a rule. Any school may color its playing surface (or any part, mainly the end zones) any color it wishes, but until 2009 (when NCAA Division II University of New Haven also decided to install a blue turf)[13] only Boise State had chosen to use a non-green playing surface. Eastern Washington University, a Division I FCS school, in 2010 announced that they would follow suit in installing a red field to fit their red and white color scheme."

Yeah, I was like you and thought they outlawed this, but they didnt. They really need to though.

"ON WHETHER HE THINKS ABOUT THE HEISMAN TROPHY AT ALL: “I don’t pay attention to the Heisman, because when you look at the Heisman statistically ... not taking anything away from the guy who won the Heisman, but I was right there, statistically. You put Mark Ingram on another SEC team that didn’t win the national championship and would he win the Heisman? No. And I’m sure a lot of guys would agree – and that’s not taking anything from Mark Ingram. So if we don’t go undefeated or anything of that sort, nobody on this team is going to win the Heisman, regardless of what you do. That’s how I feel about the Heisman. Even if we go undefeated, I still won’t be worried about the Heisman. Awards are awards. It would be great to have it, but I’m worried about trying to go to the national championship, rather than the Heisman, and win the national championship.
