MacBook Pro help

1. What makes you think it is a virus? There aren't that many viruses out on the web that target Macs. Is it just slow performance? Or are you getting random popups, over usage of resources, etc?

2. You'll want to get http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-mac. If that doesn't work, invest in something like Kasperky.

clicked on a link on another forum that others commented on saying it gave them a virus. Wish I seen these comments before I clicked on it.
Not sure If I actually do have a virus but since then my computer has been a little bit slower.

Yes, it's possible to get a virus on a Mac. It's not as common as on Windows platforms since Windows is much more widely used.

Your Mac might not have a Virus. If your macbook is running slower then it used to check this out. It helped mine get back to where it was.

You can also repair disk permissions. Go to APPS - UTILITIES - DISK UTILITY - Check your main disk and click REPAIR DISK PERMISSIONS.

Should take 15-20min or less. After all that your Mac should go back to where it used to be.

Mac OS is only safe from PC viruses and the PC has  many viruses that plague them. When I purchased my macbook pro I was told that whenever your online then there is always going to be a vulnerability for your computer to catch a virus but then I was told that my OS has safety from this built in it and also safari on mac has built in security.. but I dont use safari, I use Google Chrome so my guess is that if your going to be clicking on random links and downloading a lot on the internet then use safari because it is a better protective measure than other downloaded browsers.

My macbook pro has been getting very hot lately. So hot in fact that I can't put it on my lap anymore. I called apple support and the idiot on the line said that they weren't made to be put on you lap bc they get really hot. I was so angry at the response that I hung up.
