1)The white macbook plastic tends to crack over time, and the cracks are really bad. The aluminum are more durable, but it can scratch and dented if not taken care of properly.

Go ahead and dish out the extra $200 for the Pro.  They are good machines and will definitely be more durable as compared the white Macbook due to the plastic case.  I had the 2nd gen. White Macbook and I had a crack on the side of my track pad.
