Math genius solves problem. Turns down 1 mil.

ive kind of gotten to like math, to the point where i figured out a way to square 2 digit and the occasional 3 digit number in my head faster than you can do it on paper or find the nearest calculator to do so. But this is beyond me x1000

it's not really a question like "what is the value of ___________." its a proof so you gotta use a bunch of other proven things to confirm something that's fairly unknown.

Most kids that are geniuses like that are usually ******ed when it comes to most other things.
And yes, I am just trying to make myself feel better since I suck at math. But that doesn't change the fact that what I said is true (as taught by my psychology book)

He solved it in 2003 and didn't even accept the Fields Medal, which is the greatest honor that a mathematician can receive. I highly doubt he is gonna accept the money, he isn't looking for fame and fortune.

He's a mathematician and didn't accept a Field Medal?? This dude is a peculiar kind of individual.

Wow.

So those 7 unsolved problems, now 6 since he solved one, DO NOT have solutions to them? then how do they know if someone found the solution, if the solution doesn't exist? or the solution does exist, but its there for the prize money of $1 million if someone solves it? anyone know or can clarify?

Dude you probably will not enjoy being a genius, a true genius. Some people can't handle it, you work your whole life, have tons of pressure on you to succeed, for  to have one breakthrough that will most likely never come. If it finally does come, you enjoy your brief fame among your peers and the realization hits you that one breakthrough will most likely be the only one you ever make in your life.

its a theory fam.

Sad thing is dude asks for privacy and says he doesn't want fame, and what happens?

Dudes face is plastered on every news site and blog there is.

if its a 100 year old problem whose to say he got it right if know one knows what the answer is......

Theory was submitted years ago. Many math mathematicians come together and try to debunk the answer to his theory. It goes through rigorous testing and if it sustains and holds up to the test, then it passes. Its more complicated than that but this was just a basic idea of how some of these things work.

After he found the answers, others will take his answer and see if it will fit.
