Having been to both, they both have their pluses. LA is easier to navigate, better weather during the year overall, a little easier on the wallet in certain aspects(dining, nightlife etc.) New York is great for the broad cultural experience it provides, LA has it too, but really... it's not even close. It also has a bevy of cool little nooks and crannys to keep you entertained and occupied. Better food by far and away. And for those that crave the urban lifestyle, it doesn't get any better.
