Vol. 1??? Lol I don't think I listened to that one since 99. When I think about that one, I think of "I know what girls like, I know what they want", and Sunshine

ok..care to elaborate?
Is Piñata a classic?
come to think about it , volume 2 might be my favorite jay z album.......ive never completely checked out reasonable doubt , im about to though
Vol. 1 >>>> RD
Vol. 2 is underrated as hell. That **** was cold as ****. Played that **** the **** out back in the day.
I skip more than a quarter and damn near half of CD and LR. I know NT loves Kanye but those aren't classics to me. If he cut each into half, much better albums.
No one called that **** a classic until Jay called it one. But I'm not here to argue over Jay albums.
I can't play RD or Vol. 1 without skipping at least 4-5 songs. I would rather hear the best 7 songs off Vol. 1 than the 7 best songs off RD.
I've never heard ANYONE call it a classic until Jay did. I was in NY when that **** dropped. Me and you have had this conversation before. If you feel that it's a classic, then that's cool. I hate when I see people call it a classic because other people do and I feel like this happens way too often.
I've always heard "Doggystyle" was a classic. I remember getting that album a year or so after it came out and I couldn't even play more than half of it. Never liked it like that and I always thought The Chronic was 10x better. They're just opinions.
I've also jumped the gun on some **** that simply didn't age as well. I personally don't **** with GRODT the way I did when it first dropped. It's only a classic because it more or less cemented that time, but musically there some songs I don't mind if I ever hear again .

It was on 1st listen.
TPAB on maybe 3rd-5th.

Sorry I couldn't let this one pass (and I like what you have had to say in the New York thread). How on earth is it the most important hip-hop album ever? There have been many records with the same subject matter before, in fact it was even fashionable in the late '80s and early '90s. And again we have had jazz influences on rap before, something like The Low End Theory being a prime example. To Pimp A Butterfly hasn't even had short-lasting influence otherwise we would be seeing a wave of clones already.TPAB is probably the MOST important hip-hop album ever. It's def in the conversation.
