Spurs-Suns Game 2
As most have done, I'll be another proponent of anti-racism/profiling gesture that Robert Sarver owner of the Suns decided to do last night. Nice way to make a stand, perpetuate an essential Corporate Social Responsibility mandate and also bring in some income to the club...*Thumbs way up* to the move...
Question: Suns under Mike D'Antoni or Suns under Alvin Gentry, which is better? I know they're 2 different teams and this new version still has a way to go in building perfect chemistry but D'Antoni's team at its peak vs. Gentry's team at its peak is an interesting debate...
To comment on your first statement.. to each is their own and I respect the fact the everybody can and will have their own opinion.. however there are a lot of people here in phoenix that are quite unhappy about the reasoning behind wearing the "los suns" jerseys last night.. if they choose to wear the jerseys for cinco de mayo, then so be it.. but to have such a bold statement directly from robert sarver the majority owner of the suns was a little too much.. people think it was such a great move and that the organization will benefit in many ways from this move.. however it has already started to backfire since there has already been quite a few season tickets for next season cancelled by people upset with this decision, as well as 2 coporate suites that have been cancelled for next season.. who knows what it will really do in the long run, but things get quite twisted around in the media and things aren't always what they seem..
As far as the second part.. to answer your question.. the suns under alvin are definately the better team.. there is really no doubt about it.. the teams d'antoni had may have more talent and big time players.. however the current suns team is by far the better team for two main reasons.. they actually have a bench, and alvin plays 10 guys on a consistent basis where as d'antoni only played 7 guys on a regular basis.. i mean steve nash got to rest for 22 real time minutes last night from the time he left toward the end of the 3rd quarter and then didn't return until 6 min left in the game.. the second reason being they actually can play some defense this year and get some stops.. with d'antoni's teams if they didn't outscore you by putting up 115-120 pts a night then it was pretty likely they would lose.. where as this team can win in many different ways and has a lot of options.. they shot like 34% in the first half last night, but still were tied at halftime.. now if they can just keep it up and beat the spurs for once to get to the western conf finals..
