As most have done, I'll be another proponent of anti-racism/profiling gesture that Robert Sarver owner of the Suns decided to do last night. Nice way to make a stand, perpetuate an essential Corporate Social Responsibility mandate and also bring in some income to the club...*Thumbs way up* to the move...

Random question but do you guys think the Peak brand will ever become mainstream here in the US?

obviously a good number of NBA players have switched over, so it can only be a matter of time right?

Has anyone ever played in them? i wonder how they compare to top-of-the-line nike/adidas products...

To comment on your first statement..  to each is their own and I respect the fact the everybody can and will have their own opinion..  however there are a lot of people here in phoenix that are quite unhappy about the reasoning behind wearing the "los suns" jerseys last night..  if they choose to wear the jerseys for cinco de mayo, then so be it..  but to have such a bold statement directly from robert sarver the majority owner of the suns was a little too much.. people think it was such a great move and that the organization will benefit in many ways from this move..  however it has already started to backfire since there has already been quite a few season tickets for next season cancelled by people upset with this decision, as well as 2 coporate suites that have been cancelled for next season..   who knows what it will really do in the long run, but things get quite twisted around in the media and things aren't always what they seem..

As far as the second part..  to answer your question..   the suns under alvin are definately the better team..  there is really no doubt about it..  the teams d'antoni had may have more talent and big time players..  however the current suns team is by far the better team for two main reasons..   they actually have a bench, and alvin plays 10 guys on a consistent basis where as d'antoni only played 7 guys on a regular basis..  i mean steve nash got to rest for 22 real time minutes last night from the time he left toward the end of the 3rd quarter and then didn't return until 6 min left in the game..  the second reason being they actually can play some defense this year and get some stops..  with d'antoni's teams if they didn't outscore you by putting up 115-120 pts a night then it was pretty likely they would lose..    where as this team can win in many different ways and has a lot of options..  they shot like 34% in the first half last night, but still were tied at halftime..  now if they can just keep it up and beat the spurs for once to get to the western conf finals..

Nice one and I commend the discussion, definitely something this thread needs every now and then.

To your first comment, it is a "pick your posion" matter...make a political stand and possibly alienate some regular high maintenance clients (seems like a "penny-wise, pound foolish" approach- to use an english phrase), or make a stand and fortify positively, the social abstractability of your franchise which could actually lead to an upswing (maybe not immediately) in fans wanting to show support for their strong minded, ethically conscious team. Those who decided to forfeit their season tickets etc can be argued as those who are for the bill and are possibly in the miniority in the grand scheme of things- where fan turnover is concerned. Their financial contributions would definitely be felt but with a team on a mission like these "Los Suns" have been, there's no doubt that the fans will come out and ultimately replace those who decide to give up their privilieges. It's just an opportunity for the franchise to execrise some ingenuity and marketing prowess and find a way to get fans in....Arizona is a very large state, with much commercial strength, I'm sure there'd be some executives and CEO's who possibly agree with  the Suns and Sarver who would love to pick up those corporate suites left behind. And remeber globalization is a hell of a thing, international prospects can easily make their imprint in picking up those vacant suites, positions, whatever...ask Mikhail Prokhorov of the Nets, he'll surely let us know...

Your second point I agree with 100%. No debate there at all. D'Antoni's teams were definitely one-dimensional and handicapped on the defensive end and Gentry and Kerr have definitely amalgamated their personal team visions and have made the team remain a potent offensive threat every night and now with a defensive capability which has been shown that could help them win games...Big up to Grant Hill for surrreee...cuz dude is balllinnggg! Amar'e said in an  interview also that he was "never taught" how to play D...not literally but that it wasn't a focus before for this team but now that the "no excuse" approach by Gentry has been implemented everyone is seeing the benefits.

Yup, if last night game proves anything conclusively is that this Suns team is better than any other one before...110 point per game, scrappy D  and a seemingly formiddable bench, against the Spurs of all people on the verge of ochestrating a San Antonio sweep to me certainly, was unthinkable!

With the WCF on the horizon, the Suns and Lakers could once again meet up in the playoffs if things continue how they are..will the Suns be an easy target!? Definitely not one of the the teams people would've picked at the start of the year to possibly knock off the champs...will this potential series be interesting enough to warrant the talk of an upset?

Anyway, the Cavs were very impressive tonight... that game was pretty much toast after the first Q.

And Dragic was unbelievable in the 4th. I cannot believe how much this man his improved since his rookie year... you can definitely see the things he's picked up from Nash at times when he's out there.

Looks like we'll be seeing a Suns/Lakers conference final, should be interesting.

*Queue the drumroll*........................The finalists for NT's inaugural Kicks Playoff are now here and the battle will resume to determine who will be the "Shoe Of The Year" for the recently concluded NBA regular season 2009/10. The updated bracket below:

The stats are as follows:

WEST:

(1) Air Zooom Kobe V- 76.9% of votes to (2) Air Max Lebron 7's- 23.1% of the voting. (The King of the NBA courts for this season was not able to transfer his unanimity as the MVP to the sales rack and public perception of his sneaker line. As we have seen even here on NT, the Lebron 7 thread has paled in comparison to the Air Zoom Kobe V, where the AZK thread has doubled the amount of pages and post replies of that of the AML 7 thread. YOU have decided that Air Zoom Kobe V was one of the best 2 shoes released this season!)

EAST:

(1) Air Jordan 2010- 25.6% of voting to (2) Air Jordan 12 Retro's- 74.4%. ( The popularity of the Air Jordan 12 has manifested itself in the results you the public have generated. From the extremely lovely PEs seen on court this year from Jordan Brand athletes to non-JB players wearing all the general releases, the AJ 12 had a very impressive retro run this season. Unfortunately for the 2010, the odds were against it from the start with much criticism leveled from since the initial pics surfaced to not having much of a presence apart from the Miami locker room and the All Star Game in Dallas. JB might have to rethink some of its signature line exposure next season with the AJ 2011, as arguably more PEs could've had a positive result, just as it had always been in years past!)

The battle of the best will get underway later today with the Finalist squaring off for the final week to determine the "Shoe Of The Year." The survey will run from today Sunday 9th May (Do make sure to do everything nice for your mothers today

) until Sunday 16th May. The links as usual will be accessed through this post and in my signature.

nice to see the old injured guys like mcdyess and ghill still contributing after everything they have been through before, as much as i would want mcdyess to get a ring its would also be nice to see ghill get a chance to have one, of course they have to go through LA 1st

Post Season, oh glorious post season...oh how you bring so much excitement to the masses! The portion of the season where fame is made and excitement is at fever pitch. This round of the NT Kicks Bracket is bound to live to that hype with a frenzy of key match-ups that may change the landscape and expectations of which shoe to be crowned the best shoe of the NBA Post Season. Feast your eyes on the updated bracket below:

Statistical results as follows:

- KD II Playoff gets 71.1% of votes to Melo M6 Future Sole's 28.9%. (The NBA's MVP runner up and first time All-NBA First Team selection Kevin Durant's signature shoe is doing just as great as the player it was inspired by. Trumping the Melo M6 Future Sole, The KD 2 now goes up against the second best Jordan Brand shoe released this season)

-Air Jordan 2010 94.7% of votes to the Zoom Brave III's 5.3%. ( Treating the 1st round as mainly a formality to progress to the later stages, the AJ 2010 makes quick work of a Nike favourite which was recently re-created. By all indications, the public doesn't believe the Zoom Brave III's are anywhere close to being a courageous contender favoured to win the public's heart- Nike take note)

-Air Jordan 11 Retro achieved 84.2% of votes to the Air Max Hyperfly's 15.8%. (Though a very decent release, the Max Hyperfly came in short handed against a beloved favourite which made a raging comeback this season with 2 releases that had everyone drooling. Can the 11's stay icy and freeze out it's next formiddable opponent?)

-Air Jordan 12 Retro gets 42.1% f votes to the Air Zoom Kobe V's 57.9%. (One of the tightest first round contests, the Air Zoom Kobe V was finally given a scare from the public after coming relatively close to being knocked off in the first round. Outdoing one Jordan Brand classic, can the AZK V withstand a thrashing by arguably Jordan Brand's G.O.A.T?)

- Air Jordan One6 One7's 28.9% gets smashed by the Nike Hyperfuse's 71.1%. (A battle of two unreleased shoes, where one was clearly more visible than the other. With the likes of Brandon Roy, Rondo and Deron Williams pushing the Hyperfuse this Post Season, the public have been mesmerized by this shoe's aesthetics which even a JB hybrid project couldn't outlast).

- Air Jordan 2 Retro accumulates 52.6% of voting to the Max Hyperize's 47.4%. (The second cut throat battle which was basically a toss up winds up with another vintage Jordan release claiming a victory. Although only worn by Juwan Howard of the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, the shoe's reputation is still secure).

-Air Jordan Team Flight's 23.7% of votes to Penny 3 Retro's 76.3%. (Is a trend developing here? Retro's are better than new releases? Hmmm. We'll see if this theory hold's true in the next round)

-Lebron 7 P.S. 73.7% to the Air Jordan Icons' 26.3%. (The MVP's kicks are rock solid but how will it fare against a late 90's Nike favourite?)

Round 2 will run alongside the Finals of the NT Kicks Bracket (regular season edition) and will run from today Sunday 9th May to Sunday 16th May 2010.

Voting can be done by accessing the links here in this post and in my signature as usual. Let's see what this week's intense matches will yield.

Not just due to Rondo's play but, I hope the Cavs are getting the message now and kinda feeling the pressure more now like their coach Mike Brown. Brown was a bit upset after their Game 2 loss stressing the need for urgency while Lebron and Co. were cool and calm about it. No time now to feel overconfident, the Celtics are starting to feel good about themselves and with this new age Bob Cousy, Rajon  Rondo playing as he has, with lots of weapons to utilize on his team, the Cavs could verrrrrrrrrrrry well be eliminated...and then we'll have another "supposed to be" season.
