personally, if the packers were still undefeated, it's rodgers in a landslide. but now, you have two QBs just beasting out there. brees has set a pretty significant record. rodgers leads in rating and TDs. OPOY is rodgers hands down. MVP, there is an actual discussion that is warranted imo. where would the saints be without brees versus where would the packers be without rodgers.
I see what you're saying but imo the Flynn argument is a terrible one. Now we're just throwing out 15 games worth of brilliance by Aaron Rodgers because we have a good back up

Rodgers pass attempts is just as impressive as Brees yards. Rodgers played so well this season that he gave himself an opportunity to sit down, not throw the ball 15-20 more times cause their fighting for a win. Only came out with 1 loss compared to Brees 3, and he outplayed Brees head to head. imo its the other way around, Brees with the OPOY and Rodgers MVP And in no way am i trying to discredit Brees either, but multiple QB's did and would have done what Brees did if put in a similar scenario as him. He wasnt even the only one to break Marinos record this year. And he was one of 3 people to throw for 5000. Even Eli almost threw for 5000.

I know we hate to say woulda coulda shoulda with stats, but Rodgers is so consistent we could probably estimate what he would have done if he threw the ball as much as Brees. He averages 310 yards a game. Throws the ball around 30 times a game. 150 more attempts is 5 extra games. He would have a total of 6,193 yards. If you wanna go by yards per attempt 9.2 times 150. He would have 6,023 yards. Again im not trying to make the argument of what Rodgers woulda had like its a lock. Im just trying to show how impressive Rodgers stats are given his amount of attempts. Something he didnt have a whole lot of cause he was too busy winning by a million all year long. Winning is whats more valuable not throwing for a ton of yards like every other QB in the league.
it goes both ways though...if rodgers stays in and throws more times a game, do the INT numbers go up? does the completion % go down? unlikely, i know...but thats why the shoulda coulda woulda stuff can't be taken into account. cause we'll never know.

the flynn argument isn't the fairest, i know. but how can you not see that and say, well the packers might be OK without rodgers. i dunno...at the end of the day rodgers will definitely win it, whether alone or as a co. but if it was co-mvps, i wouldn't say it was a bad decision.
True, given Brees attempts while still throwing for 70% is really impressive as well. Still dont think it compares to what Rodgers stats look like with with how little work he's done.
This right here is exactly why sometimes I want other teams to score on the Packers so Rodgers doesnt get pulled

cause now hes bout to get jipped out of an MVP because he did too good too fast and got yanked. I just hope whoever decides who the MVP is isnt living in the moment as most sports analysts right now.

And with the Packers being ok with flynn may be true. But I promise you they dont go 15-1 with him starting the whole season.

Its blowing my mind that Rodgers lost 1 game all year with a passer rating of 122 and is being considered co-mvp. Rodgers for MVP was a lock when he beat the giants with 3 plays in 40 seconds.

yeah i hear ya. i mean if they were still 16-0...i think it's unanimous. but that loss opens it up to more a debate. may not be fair, but it how it works i guess
NFL Career Pass Interception % Leaders
1.Aaron Rodgers (27)1.8% 2005-2011 gnb
[th=""]Rank[/th] [th=""]Player (age), + - HOFer, Bold - Active[/th] [th=""]Int%[/th] [th=""]Years[/th] [th=""]Teams[/th]

9 INT's per 500 attempts career average... Best of all time.  Of course he'd throw more picks with more attempts, but very few... He goes out of his way to not make mistakes with the football. Hes the Anti-Favre.

I think the fact that the Packers had the 2nd fewest offensive possessions and 28th most Offensive plays of any team in the NFL before last week and still are the highest scoring offense is even more telling than the attempts differential.

Peep the bottom of this list... One of these things is not like the othersssss.

Favre has success under Mcarthy in 2007. Gets. Hurt in Dallas game, Rodgers
Comes in extremely cold off the bench and nearly beats the #1seed Cowboys were it not for a questionable PI call in favor of Miles Austin.

Rodgers goes down last year and Flynn most beats the Pats in prime time.

This year Flynn comes in and performs well again. No one is taking anything from Rodgers but it seems rather interesting that every time a backup comes in for GB they still perform as if the starter was left in.Actually reminds me of the 49ers in the late 80s early 90s. Montana, Young and myMan Steve Bono all starters.

fraij all that is true...but those give more support to why rodgers is the hands down OPOY

Then I guess I don't understand how when it is so obvious that efficiency in the NFL is the crown jewel that teams try to obtain, that the most efficient QB (with no non-QB candidates threatening for MVP) is not the pick?

Whether the WR's on Green Bay as a group are the best in the league or not, it doesn't change the fact that we've had no run game all year.

Doing a lot with a lot and doing a lot with a little yields the same result.  Team is 15-1, swept the division, #1 seed.  *Shrugs*

My man Aaron has turned into a pretty damn good grudge holder, so if they wanna give Brees the MVP that's just another point of motivation for him to tear $%!% up in the playoffs.

I still don't see the argument that makes Brees more valuable.

i don't disagree with you...im just trying to say don't be surprised if it's co-mvps

rodgers is definitely getting mvp...it's just whether or not he's going to be sharing it.

Brees had a good year but no, he's not @%%@%@# with Rodgers.

Who had more wins? AR
Who had less interceptions? AR
Who had a running game? DB
Who had a better ranked defense? DB

I understand Brees had an amazing year but the way Rodgers played this year is something YOU DON'T SEE. I don't care what you say about Brees or Flynn. Rodgers is the reason that offense was clicking like that. Flynn was making perfect passes yesterday, it wasn't like Flynn looked like a scrub and the receivers/backs carried him. Flynn was making accurate 40+ yard passes.

Rodgers is the MVP by far IMO.

Brees is my guy but he had two games where he was the reason they lost. Rodgers never had a game like that and he was just as responsible for the wins.

The Lions pass defense has been horrible since Delmas and Chris Houston got hurt and lets not act like Matt Flynn is some garbage.

Have a better chance than the Cowboys do LOL...
but really at home, win or go home, and you show up like that, pitiful, every year great expectations for no reason, it's the same thing every year for ya'll disappointment.

That's about the only thing about week 17 that matter, everything was basically locked up.

- Whether Tebow ever improves as a passer or not, I'm rooting for him to at least get one upset. Pitt may be w/o Mendenhall and they still have to go to Denver. It's possible. Repeat, possible.

- The best thing about CIN vs. HOU is that one of them will be in the 2nd round. Both have gone against some adversity to get here, but I highly doubt either team gets beyond the divisional round.

- Detroit/N.O. should be exciting and Detroit has a punchers chance, but the Saints and Brees are too damn technical and will prevail. That's bad news for the Niners because they won't beat the Saints.

Should be fun.

No one has remotely gone through what Houston has.
Lost 2 top QB's

Best Offensive player (perhaps best WR in the game)

Best RB (would no doubt be top rusher/top yardage if he played all the games)

Best Defensive player

Starting Safety

They'll still take care of business Saturday against the bengals, best team in TX.

I don't remember giving a degree of adversity for the teams. Houston has gone through a lot, but Cincinnati has had its share of an uphill battle to get to the playoffs.

can someone explain how the broncos won the tiebreaker over the chargers.

the chargers, broncos, and raiders all went 8-8 and 3-3 in the division.

the raiders and broncos went 6-6 in conference games while san diego went 7-5 which i would think would give them the tiebreaker over both teams since they split the season series with both denver and oakland.

im just frustrated as a fan of football because out of denver, san diego, and oakland, the chargers would have a chance to make the game competetive and actually have a chance at winning while instead were subjected to a most likely pittsburgh steeler blowout win which will be boring to watch.
