Saw it again yesterday. I knew that this was a NT favorite and I needed to hear what the riders thought...
IMO Ray's performance was mixed. His dialogue scenes are borderline terrible... dude is like a robot. Worst part was when he was shaking his sister, tryingto yell at her....
Denzel was a beast in what I thought was a different role for him. I liked his vulnerability, as his feelings got hurt a lot and he had to accept Jesus airinghim out for obvious reasons. Too many times Denzel plays a rock-hard character that can do no wrong... one of my favorite scenes was when he bought theXIII's and the worker was like "my brother's got the same arthritic condition... it's going around on Coney Island" pretty powerfulsocial statement.
And Turturro was ridiculous as the Tech U coach... pretty over the top
Really though, what's with the ending? The movie stayed pretty realistic until that whole "floating basketball" thing.
What do you think, NT? I guess I'd put it in the top 10 sports movies I've seen, but near the #6-8 spot.
