Right who was the BIGGEST FA but they got AD who was going there anyway . So Big names is 2 years is better than most teams .

Who was the last free agent to ever sign to Cavs.......?

You know the attraction of the lakers with AD is much better than the attraction of the city of Cleveland with ANYBODY .

so who was the biggest free agent the lakers signed between

shaq in july 18th, 1996

and

lebron signing in July 10th, 2018

just name that person.. 1 single player.. 22 years.. name the guy

The Lakers Front office has done everything y’all aint want them to do and now they’re geniuses

Remember all the gloating last july? Then y’all didn’t want us to mention the Lakers in the NBA thread after March?

Y’all better win a championship or this will go down as the 2nd most embarrassing season in NBA history. Only behind last year.

They have Lebron and AD. The gloating makes sense.

Far from a guaranteed championship, but two top 5 players is a decent building block IMO

Incompetence still leading to success. The American way.

$30mil off the books... interesting

Put it in context. In those 22 years how many of those did they have cap space to do so? It was just recently when they got cap space after Kobe declined/retired while their team owner was purposely sabotaging them so she could kick out her brother and Mitch Kupchak.

They had space in 2014, but Kobe was taking up half the cap space, 2015 no one took the cap space, Kobe was taking up half their cap space, 2016 no one took their money and they signed Moz/Deng in order to get into the playoffs because the brother Buss was on a timeline, which in sports management is never a good thing.

Dwight?

Could make a deal and still keep Jaylen and Tatum then send draft picks and Smart for Beal.

Still able to sign Morris and Terry with the money they were going to offer Kyrie

Bingo. I've said this every time this has been brought up. Lakers went basically 18 years without significant cap space for a big time free agent cause they were always in contention. They were either at or over the cap during the Kobe-Shaq and Kobe-Pau eras. 2014 was the first time and they struck out the next few seasons until Bron came last summer. LA has gotten most of its stars via trade but there's nuance to that as well.

Jazz can waive favors and have enough money to spend on the Morris twins and mirotic or Carroll

Otherwise if they keep favors they’ll have 4-5 million in the midroom exception that might be enough for mirotic

Get to work

you said alot and to get to this

But I refuted your point. In those 22 years, they’ve only had cap space just recently. No one is defending the Moz/Deng contracts. It’s just dishonest to talk about people not signing there. They were capped out till recently. And when they weren’t capped out recently, they were a bad team record wise, super young l, with internal turmoil (a lot of it their own doing). So what did I lie about?
