We got jewerly, booty, a dude promoting his radioshow(shutup I been listening..I'm part of the "movement"), photography, get in shapethreads....why not a BUSINESS thread for discussing a business you run, want to run, quit running, choosing your major in school, networking and so on.

I've done nothing major...but I've come to the decision I'd rather not work under someone and do the "be my own boss" thing. Gottabachelors in marketing(mistake)...current projects are custom sneakers: Evolved-Footwear.com (been at it almost 9 years) but my main focus is my blog/website about custom sneakers/shoecustomizers www.PaintOrThread.com. Besides that I've got a couple"concepts" for a product or two that would be mass produced...along with a couple other friends all trying to do their own thing as well in differentfields. But the topic of business is some that ALWAYS gets me going when I meet and conversate with new people.

So lets get it NT...introduce yourself, brand, business, and what you got goin and hopefully the post will grow from there.

EDIT:
Suggested Business Books and Websites...post for what you want to add!

Books: 4 Hour Work Week, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Crush It, The Knack, Buying In, Guerrilla Marketing(by Levinson)

Websites: Inc.com, Entrepreneur.com, Forbes.com,

very difficult to break into that field

most people I know who finished with a degree in marketing are not doing anything related to marketing

My friend and I have a clothing brand. No investors, started with a few hundred bucks out of our pocket. Working for yourself can be really trying at times, and it is certainly not for everybody. Many people glamorize the American Dream of running your own business, but again, it's not necessarily the secret tosuccess. Anyways, in my case, I haven't really slept in 6 years, I'm slowly falling out of shape, and lost a lot of friends, but I would NEVER want tobe doing anything else.

BobbyHundreds dropping by? Niceeeeeeeee.

Anyway, Freshman Economics major. I work as a Data Entry Specialist for a Mortgage Company in Maryland. There are a couple of things I'd like to do with mylife. I have a huge interest in Fashion Design, DJ'ing, Investment Banking, and being a Sports Agent. Of course you can't do all of these but these arejust some of my interests.

Great thread OP. Ive just recently finished reading 4-Hour work week, and have really been trying to brand store on a product to sell via the net.

Amazon link

I would love to own a diner or write stories for video games. How do you even go about doing that?

Im transitioning out of a safe zone at my long time employer right now and building up my own brands and businesses.

I will be the Black Bobby Hundreds soon.

Crack on the way.

Buy broken laptops and electronics on ebay and CL and fix then resell them. Hell, a lot of people sell electronics that they don't even realize are stillunder warranty and they could get fixed free. I missed the chance to bid because it's hard to get my phone off my hip when driving, but I saw a Sony Vaiotoday 13.3 inch, c2d processor, 4gb of ram (it was pink though) go for 160something because dude took the hard drive out and didn't have the OS CDs. Tonsof them on there without the battery or with a broken screen too, both of which are also easy replaces.

Let me know what you think. Jonathan
With the plug for my current job out of the way, my dream is to start a sportswear line. I've been slowly putting the pieces into place, coming up with what I think are some great names, designs and concepts and I'm at at the very crucial stage where I need to make some samples. 2010 isgoing to be a big year for me.
