The only reason I mess with swingmans is the pockets. I own a pair of authentics and I rarely wear them due to the inconvenience.

It’s a matter of preference. For me it depends on which team and which player it is. Its some jerseys that look the same in authentic and swingman (Celtics, Lakers, Magic etc). Then it’s some don’t because of the shiny materials on the authentic (Steph Warriors, rookie LBJ). I like and own both types, and it’s some scenarios where they don’t make an authentic in certain players. MJ and Bulls gear gotta be authentic tho...

For me it’s authentic or nothing. I feel like most authentic jerseys and shorts can be had a great price if you shop around and wait for sales. It’s not like the swingman line is super cheap.
The only thing I will say is the swingman jerseys seem to have more of a consistent fit than the authentics. I’ve tried on numerous swingmans and they all fit the same l. No matter the team, design, year etc.The authentics is a much different story. Maybe because of the stitching, logos etc.
