I don't think the 4s are low as the 6s (at least judging from the pictures)
But you have to remember that Kd wanted his shoe to have a low cut. That's the reason why they went low for the elites.
I guess Durant really liked the feel of it and asked to keep it low.

I've given the Energy and Area 72 KD V's a try, but theKD V as a model just isn't for me. Might have to get the Christmas pair though.
