***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Just read that the Dems pulled the exact same thing (in terms of changing the rules to pish something) a few years back.

We desperately need a third party with some cache and weight cuz this tit for tat stuff is getting out of hand.

:smh:

Repubs still weak as hell for what they pulled on Metric Garland, though.

-dems & GOP be blocking anyone else out da paint from getting federal funds for a 3rd party.

-no one supreme court Judge gets nominated during a election year (see Joe Biden)

Harry Reid begged for years for the GOP to stop playing partisan **** and confirm some people that needed to be confirmed

The GOP gave no reason why they were fillibustering.

The rule was suppose to force policy in the Senate toward the center, the GOP used it as a weapon against the Obama Administration and refused to do their job of helping to fill Judicial and Executive Branch.

This it "goes both ways" struggle moderation is why the left gets jammed up. You go high you get screw, you press you get the "both parties are the same ****"

"Biden" rule was never practiced and funny how the GOP wanna use a Democrat "idea" all of a sudden, but not surprised, here's to another 5+ decades of ****

just another day at the office:

A Wednesday evening meeting between top aides to President Donald Trump and House Republican leaders turned heated when the White House officials exhorted Speaker Paul Ryan to show immediate progress on the GOP's stalled plan to repeal and replace Obamacare.

The meeting was tense. At one point, according to three sources briefed on the meeting, White House chief of staff Reince Priebus suggested it could be detrimental to Ryan’s speakership if Republicans fail to pass a bill. Others disputed that characterization, saying the comments were not aimed specifically at Ryan but more broadly, as in: All Republican lawmakers' jobs are in jeopardy if they don't deliver.

"It was really bad," said one person familiar with the meeting. "They were in total meltdown, total chaos mode."

@JesseRodriguez: NBC News: Defense Secy Mattis to meet with Pres Trump tonight in Mar-a-Lago to discuss options for strikes against the Assad regime in Syria

Just as many suspected...oh boy,as if Syria wasn't already a gigantic cluster **** of epic proportions :x :x

I'd expect Putin not to sit by idly as this would happen though...

I get the Mar-a-lago backlash but that's nothing new at this point no offense ,the fact that they're gonna go after Assad is the much more serious issue imo...

Regime change sure worked out in Iraq and Libya, what's the worst that could happen in Syria right?

According to insiders, some of the plans Mathis is gonna go over with tiny hands involved tomahawk missiles to take out their russian anti-air defense systems which would most likely involve the killing of Russian troops on the ground...

If Trump puts boots on the ground, expect the counties that voted him in to make up the bulk of the military.

I know we're not doctors and we're not in a place to diagnose someone but this kind of behavior is not normal. This man needs to seek professional mental help.

President Trump on Thursday insisted he’s had “one of the most successful” starts as president in U.S. history, dismissing the chaos and stalled legislative agenda that has marred his first 100 days in office.

"I think we’ve had one of the most successful 13 weeks in the history of the presidency,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One.

The president cited positive numbers on job creation, negotiations on presidential aircraft prices and his planned military buildup.

Trump’s first weeks in office have been anything but smooth.
The president continues to be dogged by a federal investigation into whether his associates cooperated with Russia in its efforts to meddle in the 2016 presidential election.
The controversy led him to oust retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn as national security adviser after it was revealed Flynn misled senior White House officials about his conversations with Russia's ambassador to the U.S.

Trump's signature executive order temporarily blocking travelers from a number of Muslim-majority countries has twice been blocked by the courts.

And GOP leaders were forced to pull their plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare in the House after it ran into resistance from rank-and-file Republicans. That resulted in a second staff shakeup, in which the president’s deputy chief of staff left the White House to work with outside pro-Trump groups.

The president's chief strategist, Stephen Bannon, was also removed from his permanent role on the National Security Council Principals Committee on Wednesday.

Asked if another staff shakeup could happen, Trump said he thought the administration had “already shaken things up.”

Friday will mark 11 weeks since Trump was inaugurated as president.
