Weiner is expected to plead guilty and prosecutors will push for a 2 year sentence according to sources. Something is very wrong with that man

Disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner is expected to plead guilty in federal court Friday morning in connection with a sexting scandal involving a teenage girl, sources familiar with the deal told NBC New York.

Weiner, 52, will plead guilty to a charge of distributing obscenities to a minor, and prosecutors will recommend a prison sentence of about two years, the sources said. His attorneys are expected to ask for probation when he appears in Federal District Court in lower Manhattan, the sources added.

The former politician would also have to register as a sex offender, although a judge could rule otherwise.

Weiner, once considered a rising star in the Democratic Party, had represented his congressional district in Brooklyn and Queens for almost 12 years before he stepped down in 2011 after admitting to sending sexually explicit social media messages and texts to women.

But the sexting didn't stop, and a series of explicit exchanges continued in early 2016 with a 15-year-old girl from North Carolina, two highly knowledgeable sources told NBC News in September.

Weiner, the estranged husband of Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, allegedly sent pornographic videos  and made requests that the girl be nude and masturbate, the sources said. He allegedly used the alias "T Dog" with her.

Federal statutes "prohibit obscenity involving minors, and convicted offenders generally face harsher statutory penalties than if the offense involved only adults," according to the Justice Department.

DailyMail.com  published alleged screen grabs of texts sent by Weiner to the girl, whose identity was not disclosed.

Weiner in a statement to NBC New York  following the story suggested he was the victim of a hoax.

"While I have provided the Daily Mail with information showing that I have likely been the subject of a hoax, I have no one to blame but me for putting myself in this position," Weiner wrote. "I am sorry."

He also  provided The Associated Press with an email that he says the girl wrote to a teacher recanting her claim.

The latest series of sexting allegations is a far cry from Weiner's congressional days, when he became a political star on C-SPAN and MSNBC — championing health care reform and other liberal causes.

In 2010, he gave a  fiery speech from the House floor in support of a bill to aid 9/11 first responders, rebuking Republicans who sought to silence him. "I will not yield to the gentleman!" he screamed.

In recent years, after falling out of the headlines, Weiner has continued to be the subject of political gossip surrounding his relationship with Abedin, who had been a close aide to Clinton for about two decades. A documentary focusing on his sexting scandal called "Weiner" premiered last year in theaters.

Weiner and Abedin, who married in 2010, have been estranged since last summer, when new accusations came to light that he sent more damning photos and messages. Eventually, reports surfaced that the messages were with the teenage girl.

A federal investigation into the case led FBI agents to seize Weiner's laptop. That prompted the feds in October to announce they had found a new batch of emails on the computer that "appear to be pertinent" to a previous investigation into Clinton's use of a private server while she was secretary of state.

In May, while FBI Director James Comey explained his decision to Senators for why he reopened the bureau's investigation  into Clinton's emails, he testified that Abedin forwarded "hundreds and thousands of emails" to Weiner, including classified information.

But a week later, he acknowledged grossly overstating the number.

Weiner unsuccessfully ran for mayor of New York City in 2005 and then in 2013, after he hoped to put the initial texting scandal and his resignation from Congress behind him.

But a few months before the Democratic primary, a new string of sexting accusations came to light when it was revealed he used the alias "Carlos Danger" and admitted to sending messages to at least three women the year before. One of the women identified herself as a 23-year-old from Indiana named Sydney Leathers.

Despite pressure to bow out of the race, Weiner — with Abedin by his side — famously vowed to fight on. However, he finished fifth in a packed Democratic field.

trump's interview answer today (about whether he has committed any criminal actions in the past year):

"Director Comey was very unpopular with most people. I actually thought when I made that decision — and I also got a very strong recommendation, as you know, from the Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein — but when I made that decision I actually thought that it would be a bipartisan decision."

??????????????????????

ramble on, idiot. not sure he knows the meaning of "bipartisan."

here's the full answer. I love the reporters who start smirking at trump. His answer about Comey and criminal action goes for 4 minutes.

I can't tell if Kushner is laughing at the question or Trump's answer. But his body language indicates he thinks this is a joke. Would be interesting to think what his true thoughts are of 45 knowing that 45 has a weird relationship with his wife.

Da Don sounding real low-energy in that interview. Sad!

Little idea on how European officials feel about Il Douche before his trip...

@RBReich:
If Trump expects his European trip to give him a reprieve from his troubles at home, he's mistaken.

Not sure if I follow here. Why would his attorneys recommend to submit an updated financial disclosure without certifying the information as true?

Trump will have to sign it either way according to the OGE director.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump’s attorneys originally wanted him to submit an updated financial disclosure without certifying the information as true, according to correspondence with the Office of Government Ethics.

Attorney Sheri Dillon said she saw no need for Trump to sign his 2016 personal financial disclosure because he is filing voluntarily this year. But OGE director Walter Shaub said his office would only work with Dillon if she agreed to follow the typical process of having Trump make the certification. That is standard practice for the thousands of financial disclosure forms OGE processes each year.

The Associated Press obtained the letters under a Freedom of Information Act request.

“As we discussed, OGE will provide this assistance on the condition that the President is committed to certifying that the contents of his report are true, complete and correct,” Shaub wrote in a May 10 letter. “When we met on April 27, 2017, you requested that he be excused from providing this certification.”

In her letter to Shaub, Dillon says the president will “sign and file” documents regarding his 2016 financials by mid-June — an indication that she agreed to the OGE requirement that the president certify the information as true to the best of his knowledge.

Dillon also stressed in her letter, dated May 9, that Trump is under no obligation to file a financial disclosure this year and is doing so voluntarily. “President Trump welcomes the opportunity to provide this optional disclosure to the public, and hopes to file it shortly,” she wrote.

Personal financial disclosures include an accounting of a person’s personal income, assets and liabilities. Trump’s 2016 form will span his general election candidacy, election and transition to power — potentially shedding light on the immediate impact his Republican nomination and election had on his Trump Organization.

Last May, then-candidate Trump’s disclosure form showed his business empire had grown in value while he was running for office. However, the information is no substitute for tax returns, which Trump has chosen not to release — breaking the long tradition of his predecessors. Tax documents would show his effective rate of income tax and detail the extent of his charitable giving.

Trump’s decision to file a personal financial disclosure puts him in the company of past Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and others.

Shaub references that history in the first line of his letter to Dillon: “Thank you for your letter dated May 9, 2017, regarding the President’s decision to adhere to the longstanding tradition of voluntarily filing a public financial disclosure report in the first year after taking office.”

Fox News Fires Bob Beckel Over Alleged Racist Remark

The network released this statement to Variety: “Bob Beckel was terminated today for making an insensitive remark to an African-American employee.”

In July, 2014, he used the racial slur “Chinamen” on live TV, which caused his co-workers to gasp. In January of the same year, Beckel told viewers all Nigerians are scam artists and that Iranians threaten to feed their children to dogs.
He’s also made offensive remarks about women. Also in 2014, he called then-Bachelorette Andi Dorfman “a ****” because she had sex with a man she didn’t end up marrying.

Apologies if it's been discussed by what the **** is Trump giving a speech on Islam in Saudi Arabia?

Who thought this was a good idea?  How could this possibly play out in Trump's favor?

I only see two possible outcomes; his words outright insult many in attendance and around the world, or his disingenuous ******** more subtly insults said people.
