Please LOCk

Dude Al David was dead already when we lost several games at the end of the season. Teams on the last stretch were putting up over 30pts a game...that was all Breshnahan. If your going to blame Knapp for Allens 12 losses you got give some blame to Breshnahan for Hue's 8 losses. Al Davis was dead when we lost most of our games last season.

Come on man they didn't change anything. Look at the defense the year before when Marshall would sprinkle in his blitz packages. It was like night and day. Thats why he was canned. Breshnahan didn't know anything BUT Al's defense. Thats why he was brought in for the second time.

Last stretch? That was the second half of the season. If Hue was such a good coach he would have changed or atleast had Bresh throw in some wrinkles.

I'm not a Hue basher. I thought he was an really good play caller and got the most out of the offense. He just thought WAYYYY to much of himself. He wasn't qualified to have the type of opinions he had. Not yet at least.

Theres a reason why he's coaching running backs in Cincy, and has had, what, one interview in two years for a OC position. He thinks he's better than what he is.

And I'm not blaming all 12 losses last year on Knapp. The defense (Allen's specialty) was terrible in the first half of the year. Last November was some of the worst Raider football I've ever seen. Difference is, Allen adjusted, and the defense looks significantly better in December. Totally different. Knapp never adjusted anything.

And after watching the "talent" on this team, if you REALLY think another coach could do better you need to reevaluate things. We have ZERO stand out players on defense. ZERO.

Steve Cork said it best. Name one player on the Raiders starting DEF thats better than ONE on the 49ers..... Can't do it.

That says a lot.

And lets not forget Hue's RECORD BREAKING penalties. I know, I know, "raider way" etc. This is 2013, the "Raider way" DOES NOT WORK.

Discipline Does.

And that is ENTIRELY on the HEAD coach.

Al Davis' defenses were nothing to write home about. He was the de facto defensive coordinator and he was terrible at it.

I always liked the basis of it, my guy vs. your guy. I just wanted to throw wrinkles in to confuse QBs. QBs used to pick their spots against the Raiders because nothing ever changed.

I liked what I saw with the Marshall/Al combo in 2010. Even the small blitzing we had then was too much for Al to handle and Marshall got canned. I knew we had a serious problem when that happened.

That's what I'm saying, though. Because Al refused to acknowledge the need for change in his schemes his defense became terrible. There was a time when his packages were excellent, but that was literally decades ago.

i say they need to stock up on picks and not go for these "homerun" picks that don't turn out well.

That would be my preference too. Get as many picks as possible, get quality linemen and build outwards on the defensive end. We're going to be pretty terrible next year too, but we'll hopefully make some meaningful progress.

I want them to trade down as well ,but I think the Raiders may have a hard time finding a trade partner since I don't see too many players that a team would want to trade up for in this draft.

I'm telling you, Raiders need to draft a QB (either Geno Smith, Barkley, Bray) and sit him on the bench for a year behind Palmer. Do it the right way this time. You are going to suck next year regardless.

Terrell Pryor should get in some games next year sure, but he is not the answer. Athleticism can only get you so far at QB, you have to be able to throw the ball accurately down the field consistently, which TP has never done.

I would love to trade down as well, but like snax said, theres really no one that jumps out of this draft.

If the right deal is there, go for it. I'm talking a late 1, 2, 3 maybe a 2 next year or something.

If not, keep the 3 and I think I'd go with Sharif Floyd.

For the type of defense Allen is trying to run i think our front 3 or 4 in the next few years is gonna HAVE to be stout for it to work. The corners aren't as important.

I'm thinking a lot of this Geno talk is Reggie trying to bait someone into trading up with us. I think he does genuinely appreciate Geno's talent but I dont think he'd seriously draft him seeing our holes.

Any new news on Star? If everything checks out I think he's the pick.

Breaking news; Raiders restructure contract of strong safety Tyvon Branch. His base salary for 2013 drops from $6 million to $715,000.

Raiders tacked on two years to SS Tyvon Branch's contract at $6.5 million for each season -- 2016 and 2017.

Tyvon's restructuring brings us a little less than 5.5M under the cap, I think. Good start, we'll see what happens after Palmer, DHB and Kelly.

EDIT: Actually more than 6M is free now, I forgot about Brisiel's restructure.

Apparently Jarvis Jones has been 100% cleared and he only suffered a minor injury to his spine that didn't stay with him. Meaning, we have to ******g take him if Jacksonville doesn't.

Hope this encourages teams to make the jump for the third slot.

I like him but I think Jones has a bigger upside. Dude can be the Von Miller of this draft IMO.

I gotta admit. The few times I saw Georgia play, Jones was making his presence felt. Sacks, a couple tackles, hurries. Encouraging stuff. His health seems to be a huge question mark...nobody knows if his diagnosis was legit now :lol

I'm seriously at the point where if we stay at #3, I want somebody who contribute at a high level for a long long time. Any position.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a top 10 pick actually perform like....... A TOP TEN PICK??? Man. Imagine, drafting a player, having said player still on the team 5 years later and playing at an all pro level.

Strange sight to be seen in Oaktown.

Rumor Reggie trying to trade Carson to the Cards, if that happen we will free up major money this year and next year ....
