Question about Iphone text messages

Is it that sometimes when I receive a text message from an iphone user I have to download it? Is there anyway to get around this?

Never had this happen to me ... the only time I have to download anything or downloading is display in the text message is when a picture is sent and I have bad reception ....

Besides that - the picture message is seamless ....
