How do you properly shrink 501 shrink to fit jeans?

I looked on google and youtube on how to shrink them, but people use different methods and I wanna know the best/proper way to shrink them.. Please Respond

I sat in my tub with hot water for 30 min., took 'em off and hung them till they stopped dripping, then wore them until they dried.
Got my normal waist size and added 2 onto my length.

Buy them your size and just dry clean them. I have washed a pair in the past and they were never any good after.
