I know people who've long stopped listening to RKelly before the doc and trial because he triggers memories of their own trauma. Not so black and white.

The girl's parents didn't pursue criminal charges because they felt it would have hindered his capability to provide child support if he were to be imprisoned. What's worse is that piece of crap was still a deadbeat dad with that kid despite being able to get away with having sexual relations with a minor.

He didn't pay crap on a consistent basis when he clearly had the means to do so being a NBA star. He only supported the biological kids he had within his marriage. He didn't support any kid he had out of wedlock.
The kid he had with that 13-year-old actually made it to the NFL but lasted only 5 seasons. That girl's parents had to get a paternity test done in the '90s. He agreed to pay a confidential lump sum with no ongoing child support after he was deemed the father. He refused to acknowledge that boy. He finally talked to that boy when he was 18 and actually claimed that it would be too late for them to have a relationship at that juncture.
They finally reconnected in 2014 and have stayed in touch since. But that's still too late and it doesn't absolve Malone from being a piece of crap predicated on all the things he mishandled ever since he got that girl pregnant at 13.
He also got a high school girlfriend pregnant with twins after he graduated but didn't meet them until they were 17. He left that girl with the twins after she gave birth. One of the twins was a girl who ended up a WNBA star, Cheryl Ford.
That fool was just a deadbeat, period.
