Rashard Lewis is the 2nd highest paid player in the NBA

@ Orlando paying Rashard/VC that much.

I agree Mamba, its quite sad and pathetic that Stern has to protect owners from themselves. Most of the owners I assume are reasonably intelligent, as they have made the bulk of their money in other industries, yet the lose their damn minds and start giving out huge contracts like people give out Thanksgiving turkeys for the less fortunate. I am all for players getting as much money as they can. If someone is going to offer me more money than what they should based on my talent/production I am not going to turn it down. It baffles me how "fans" continue to be in support of the owners when it comes to player contracts, it's most comical when it comes to the NFL.

Are you sure? I for one have not seen Rashard Lewis in a finals game.

I think he had 30 something points in Game 2 of the Finals last year, but other than that he's been MIA in the playoffs

Not really...the top 7 really isn't gonna change unless Amare gets 20 mil a year from the Knicks or Joe takes that deal from the Hawks which is about 20 mil a year too. Bron, Wade, etc. will start @ 16.6 mil or something like that. And the other big names, Dirk and Pierce are taking less money for longer years.

If by "ghost in 09" you meant last year's playoffs, then that's not quite true. 19 points, on 45% FG and 39% from 3, and 6.5 rebounds considering he's not a strong rebounder, he was the main reason they made it to the Finals, Boston couldn't cover him without KG on the floor.

It's hardly the worst contract in sports, give me a break.  The Magic overpaid obviously and it's their fault since no one else was going to offer him a max, but at least Rashard has been a key part of making them a contending team.  The Magic had been over the cap for years and finally was able to offer a max deal to someone, and he was the best available at the time.
